Re: No Sound in Headphones on playback
@DysatisfunctionaLuke I can't hear what Audacity is recording, which has been catastrophic a couple of times. You can do that with restrictions. When I shot this production, I was listening to Audacity with good sealed headphones (on the left) so I could hear what Audacity was doing even past the ha...

Re: Loading direct from SD drive not working
However the same file can be loaded from SD with drag and drop Secure Digital device? Model number? Maker? It's possible Audacity will never treat that drive as one of its trusted flock. The instant you make Audacity connect directly, it assumes it can use that drive for all of its jobs not just pu...

Re: Reducing heavy diction
This is a shortcoming with many of those tools. The example given is of popping where the sound didn't overload. If you experiencing clipping or other sound damage during the pop, the problem can become a lot more serious. That can create spectral sprays rather than one nice clean blob. That also re...

Re: Audacity/ACX Help Needed
If you're planning on solo reading and producing, then sooner or later you will be The Producer (upper case intentional). That's generally seen as the person with the pen and checkbook, but is more broadly the person making important decisions and the final authority. So wear your Producer hat. What...

Re: Reducing heavy diction
P-Popping and other plosives you get rid of by proper microphone placement and tools such as pop and blast filters. The is the nylon net type of pop filter and the approximate spacing. https://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PowerFistSpacing-Screen-500t.jpg David Greene is using the stiff screen typ...

Re: How to prevent mic playback while recording
The easy answer is deselect Playthrough. Audacity > Edit > Preferences > Recording > [_] Playthrough (de-select). If that's not it, then it gets more entertaining. How are you recording and what are the computer connections? You can achieve Perfect Overdubbing where you hear yourself correctly in mi...

Re: Does Audacity 3.0.0 make use of cloud services?
And one other note: Cloud Storage can be one of the two places you put valuable work to guard against deletion, accidental overwriting, or other damage. But use it divorced from Audacity. Save/Export the work locally, close Audacity and then move stuff around. Do Not try to make Audacity deal with o...

Re: Can't Monitor Recording track
It's not stupid and it's harder than you think. You can't listen to the computer to get your own voice or instrument because that connection will almost always have a delay or echo and it's impossible to perform to it. You have to do it with your interface, preamp, or microphone. Screen Shot 2021-03...
