Re: High and long HD usage on exit.
I don't remember actually when was the last time I have defragmented the HDD, about 2-3 months ago probably, but its not using it anyway. So, about my SSD: 45 GB partition - 20 free... It's possible to be too good at this. A vast majority of our users would have zero idea what a partition is much l...

Re: Compressor
Audacity versions go by three numbers, not two. If you have a two number Audacity, it may be a bogus version.

Re: where are all my files?
We'll need to know a lot more than just that, but if you open Audacity and File > Open Recent, is the work there?
Did you use the machine and Audacity very hard while you gone?

Oh, and don't change the name of a Project outside of Audacity. The show will drop dead. Open it in Audacity and save it as a different name using the above rules.

Re: audio file cannot be read or written
How long is the show? How much storage do you have? Did you put punctuation marks in the filename? Particularly if you want to share files with someone else, punctuation marks are a bad idea. Upper case, lower case, numbers, -dash- and _underscore_ are the only unconditionally safe filename characte...

Re: High and long HD usage on exit.
A flashing drive light is expected as the drive and machine negotiate where to put things. I don't know about that behavior with an SSD. They don't have moving arms and spinning metal platters. Their storage is a cousin to the actual RAM in the machine. Solid state and fast as can be. There is a new...

Re: 'robotic' metallic voice on playback but fine elsewhere?
Sorry. I read it three times and I can't get the timeline. You read or perform through your microphone chain to live presentation and it sounds just fine. Then what, now? You record a presentation in Audacity. Then it gets fuzzy. You play the work in Windows Media and it sounds perfect but you play ...

You obviously have The Wrong Trousers. Nick Park The obvious answer is that something in the recording space has changed Maybe not the way you think. You're on a Windows machine right? What did you do to the machine while you were on vacation? Did you do any chat, conversations, Skype, games or othe...
