There's almost a 100% chance your computer doesn't have a stereo audio connection. I use a Behringer UCA-202 Analog > Digital (and back).

Re: recording from mixer/decks
I think you're experiencing something I got stuck with a bit ago. I bet significant chocolate the USB connection doesn't go through the mixer equalizer. The signal is "flat" suitable for production later. The equalizer is intended to "tune the room" and can change depending on th...

This is the not-so-subtle prod. Audacity is a forum, not a help desk. Users helping each other. What part failed? We're always looking for ways to improve services and tools.

but I couldn't get it to get me past ACX Check. What part failed? We're always looking for ways to improve services and tools. We're continuously improving ACX-Check. It's not a gift from the angels. You can make it lie to you and it will not analyze super long chapters. I'd be shocked if Peak and ...

Re: remove drums and enhance volume
If you open your clip in Audacity and View > Show Clipping, It's going to light up with a ton of little red lines. That's all the places where the tune hit distortion from being too loud. Once it does that, the distortion is permanent. If you lower the volume, that will give you quieter distortion. ...

Re: remove drums and enhance volume
I've identified a section in which the drums are alone and removed them there. And that may be the end of the adventure. Audacity can't split a mixed performance into individual instruments, voices and sounds. Sometimes you can get lucky and use Effect > Vocal Reduction and Isolation to manage drum...

to prevent the clicks in the first place All we're trying to do is keep the machine from being too busy to pay attention to you. If I haven't been a ray of sunshine lately, the clicking could still be something else. If you have enough trouble with the computer, it is recommended you stop using it....

Your good quality, sealed-against-the-head headphones plugged into the UMC22 should give you a good idea how loud you're getting. That's a terrific way to Auto Adjust the performance without thinking too much about it . That's why everybody does it. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/ChrisPrattEmmet...

Re: newbie seeks recommendations
I've learned it doesn't matter if a character is bellowing, "RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!" --any yelling while narrating, and kerpow, no passee ACX Checkee. It can depend on your announcing technique. The grownups back away from the microphone so they don't blast and they're good at stressing th...

Re: newbie seeks recommendations
Disconnect the network and turn off WiFi. After you disconnect everything, Shift-Shutdown. That's a cleaner, more complete shutdown than the regular, faster one. Start, wait for it to settle down and then open everything. once I actually started figuring out a bit about what I was doing, I had to go...
