Re: Not exporting

Where are you trying to export it to?
Are you trying to export it to a cloud drive?

Re: iShowU multi-output device not working with Audacity

Audacity, I have the multi-output device selected for the playback Yes, but Audacity will only output stereo (2 channel) or mono (1 channel) no matter how may devices you have selected. What is the job? We get lost in a blizzard of connection info. What is the actual task. Why are we doing this? Koz

Re: Recording using Rode NT1 so quiet I can barely hear anything

Good to hear you're working and thanks for the brief review. There is one test that stumped the Sweetwater people. If you set Audacity to playback to the AI-1, can you hear your live voice and the Audacity playback at the same time ? Setting Direct Monitor on my Behringer interface will do that. Thi...

Re: Help getting dialed in for ACX specs

Missed one. You should submit to ACX in Mono (one blue wave) and not stereo (two blue waves). It's possible your recording system really, really, really likes to capture in stereo, and trying to subvert that need can cause problems. You can use Tracks > Mix > Mix Stereo Down to Mono. Do that before ...

Re: generation quality loss in MP3

There are editors that can work directly on the MP3 without all the format shenanigans. See: DVDdoug. They can allow some editing and still keep the original compression quality. They're very limited. Cutting, slicing, and deleting are good, special effects, filters, and volume changes as a rule are...

experience with a reflection filter in conjunction with SM7b? Mechanical device or software? Few software products can seamlessly and gracefully get rid of echoes and that's what a live room is. The SM7b is a directional microphone. You can aim the back of the microphone at wherever the worst sound...

warmer and more plush, and less brittle/stark. In general, the SM7b will take care of that. Its job is to be plush and smooth. Some of this work will appear on earbuds and cellphones, so you can't get too plush or the voice will vanish. If you've been following the forum, you know that a frequent c...

Re: Help getting dialed in for ACX specs

If you're wondering why this is beginning to sound remarkably like a tutorial, I'm probably going to go back (in violation of the rules) and put chapter headings in to make the hints and tricks easier to find. Yes, I do spend a lot of time typing that whole thing repeatedly. The Sickness has pushed ...

ACX Tricks. More than one forum poster has crashed by not putting the right number of seconds of silence (Room Tone) at the beginning and end of their chapters. You do have to follow the rules. https://www.acx.com/help/acx-audio-submission-requirements/201456300 There is a list of unsuitable books. ...

Re: Help getting dialed in for ACX specs

There are some handy digital hygiene tricks. Export your raw reading as a WAV (Microsoft) 16-bit sound file. Errors, fluffs, and all. There should be no "read it again" because the dog ate your computer power cable and Audacity Hindenburged on you in the middle of editing. Just open up the...
