Re: Eliminating Frying Mosquitos - hardware suggestion
You may not need to deal with the computer fans. I think the background system noise in the MXL-MICMATE PRO is going to be the first serious problem. I'm following Audiobook Mastering 4 from here. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=96103 If I take the processing all the way to t...

Re: Is it possible to separate solo and accompaniment?
Other than that center track trick we can't split a mixed performance into individual voices, instruments or sounds. Even that center track thing has limits. If the production added stereo echo to the voice, the echo will hang around. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/MysteryTrain3.mp3 Also note ...

Re: Eliminating Frying Mosquitos - hardware suggestion
This one? http://www.mxlmics.com/microphones/usb/MicMate-Pro/ It says it produces 48 volts. The microphone won't run on zero volts. There's transistors inside a condenser microphone and they have to run on something . Field and news gathering microphones have batteries inside. Some microphones will ...

Shift-Command-4 and draw a box around the panel. It will save a picture on your desktop. Double click it and it will show you what you have.

Re: Eliminating Frying Mosquitos - hardware suggestion
The power fist spacing if the for pop and blast filter, not the microphone. If you get too close without that little black tennis racket you could start to pick up P Popping and other mouth noises. Do a real sound test from that little instruction panel. There are pre-baked tools and effects for aud...

Re: Eliminating Frying Mosquitos - hardware suggestion
The goal is AudioBook. That's important because the others have fuzzy standards and anything that sounds OK to you (or to your audience) will work, Audiobooks have pretty strict standards. That is, strict from a home producer point of view. Most pro studios and broadcasters can pass them before bre...

We never got the goal. Podcast, Voiceover work, AudioBook?

Re: Eliminating Frying Mosquitos - hardware suggestion
As we go. I think you have a bad whine program. Mine dropped that eeeeeee sound like a hot rock. You also have at least one fan mmmmm in there. I got rid of that with a custom filter, but if that's your AC, much better you turn it off. Every time we cook up another filter, we put another hole in the...

Re: Eliminating Frying Mosquitos - hardware suggestion
I don't get lost easy, but I think you stumped the band. I can hear a whine, but I can't find it in the analyze tools enough to manage it. Multi-Notch is not supposed to muffle the sound. When it's working right, it's supposed to be almost invisible. I can force Noise Reduction to work, but it's rig...

Re: Eliminating Frying Mosquitos - hardware suggestion
I think you have quite a number of problems, not just the audible one.
I need to drop for a while.
