Re: Advice on Chris's Dynamic Compression: use INSTEAD of RMS Normalize? When to do the De-Noise?
[whoosh effect] I'm back. If I didn't say so in the above monologue, one of my goals is that you should sound like you after Mastering. The raw reading and the ACX submission should sound almost identical except possibly for volume. "Almost" because the first step, Low Rolloff for Speech d...

I don't know that anybody has messed with Chris's Compressor since he reached end of life. Oddly, that's not recommended for audiobook production because It is a full-on broadcast compressor and its goals may be different. You can fake out Chris. If you stay silent long enough, Chris will think ther...

I can't find anything wrong with that. We must be done. This is where you submit to ACX (paying attention to their submission requirements), become published, make a fortune and move to a lovely cottage on the French Riviera. Saint-Tropez? Mal de Mare? Coq au Vin? WhiteStuccoCottageMajorca.png Koz

Re: Big problem, I think I’ve done something wrong!
It's odder than that. Audacity doesn't need extra software to open an MP3. So what you have is probably not MP3s. I don't think Windows has Clip Info, so you should probably use software that can tell you what you have. I think this still works. https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo/Download Get the pr...

Re: Clipping after RMS Normalization
I have Skype installed on my computer, but it's not in use when I'm recording. Are you sure you actually stopped it? Skype likes to stay napping but on-guard for incoming calls. Is there a little light under the app icon in the doc? I'm recording in a walk-in closet All is revealed. I'm tuning out ...

Re: Help needed with SSSibilance
I know how to change the XML file to increase the effect. Let me know. I do have some homework for you. Crumple up a newspaper sheet about a foot in front of the microphone and record it as you would normally. Try to find a sheet of a real paper like New York Times or Washington Post. Some free news...

Re: Help needed with SSSibilance
https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=245549#p245549 I'm pretty sure this is current. I know they made changes to it and updated this one. I'm also including DistantSeas.xml which is the equalizer custom setting. That's basically fancy-pants tone controls. DistantSeas.XML Download that and ...

Re: Help needed with SSSibilance
The idea is to leave your normal "S" tones alone and just get rid of the "ice pick in the ear" sound.
These adjustments get harder as your ears fall apart.
"WHAT?"
I SAID THESE ADJUSTMENTS...

Re: Help needed with SSSibilance
I got a similar effect with the DeEsser tool with these settings.
I don't think DeEsser comes with stock Audacity. I need to find it.
