to keep the worst of it at bay. You could record that way, but I probably wouldn't. Attached is the last clip with Mastering 4, Noise Reduction and DeEssing. CurtainsDrawnMastered-NR-DeEsser.wav Screen Shot 2018-09-17 at 20.02.49.png Note the noise is -62.5dB. That means even with noise reduction, ...

Don't change Low Rolloff for Speech point by point. that way lies insanity. Instead, change the "Length" slider to the left. From the original recipe, the length slider should be about 5000 for mastering. The filter will be less strict with a lower number. And yes, you would one of the vic...

Re: Playback Recording
You were probably recording your laptop built-in microphone, not the tape machine itself. You can drill down to the Windows control panels and see what your tape USB machine name is, and then select that name in the Audacity recording toolbar (next to the microphone symbol). Right-click the speaker ...

It will be our opinion, but yes. We're on the edge of our seats.I'm thinking perhaps I should send a 20sec sample of one of my finished chapters — to check that it's not going to sound too processed for ACX.

I can't follow the message either. Effect > Vocal Reduction and Isolation can give you (as much as possible) either the music or the vocal by itself. Is that what you want?

Re: Can we add echo effect during record?
Before you get excited about that, nobody can take echo effects out . So if this is a live event presentation that's one thing, but if you are recording this for post production, you have to hit the quality and settings exactly right . The process is particularly difficult if you have to match two d...

Re: Audacity 2.2.2 records at half speed...
half-speed recording Just "runs slow" or is "low pitch" isn't as helpful as if you give concrete examples. Does the new show have half the duration? Use Effect > Change Speed to approximately correct the work and report the correction. That will go a long way to telling us where...

Re: Undesired limiter effect when recording
What is the effect of mismatch between the driver's 48000hz rate and using 44,100hz in Audacity? 44100 is the sample rate for Audio CDs. 48000 is the video sample rate. Most apps are completely comfortable with either one, although for perfect transfer, the rates should match. If there is an error,...
