Re: Isolate Specific Sounds
I don't think Audacity is going to be much help. We can't split a mixed presentation into individual voices, instruments or sounds. Each voice is not a single pitch tone or note. Each voice is made of many different harmonics, pitches and overtones—and worse yet, they overlap and they're moving. Bar...

Re: Help for an amateur!
Is that before or after you tried? We can't take effects or filters out of a clip and multiple layers of effects isn't a good idea. Please post the raw interview.

Re: Easier way to patch with room tone?
Yes it would. This thread has thousands of followers. Post back if you get anything to work.

Re: Noise Floor
I got it to pass but I did change the tools around a little. You have a very low pitched hum tone probably from a fan or maybe one of your lights. I had a Compact Fluorescent bulb that sounded like that. I change the settings of the first tool, Low Rolloff for Speech a little to get rid of it. Then ...

Re: Easier way to patch with room tone?
I'm working on what will be a 7-hour audiobook which is taking about 3 weeks to edit. It's not unusual for people to be horrified that it takes five times the length of the production or longer to edit it. That's a rule, but it borders on being a gold-plated law. If you find yourself greatly violat...

Re: Clipping after RMS Normalization
I've been experimenting and I think I've got something that's going to work And you're going to tell us all about it, right? The powered hub used to be one of the go-to techniques to help with The Curse, but too many people found cheap-garbage powered hubs that caused as many problems as they cured...

I just soft-recommended someone else try the PortaBooth. Whoever gets here first with the review wins.

Got it. I was afraid I hadn't saved the link. https://voiceoveressentials.com/product/porta-booth-plus Or its big brother https://voiceoveressentials.com/product/porta-booth-pro Note in both of these it's not desirable to back yourself up against a plain, hard wall, or if you have no choice, cover t...
