WAV (Microsoft) 16-bit at 44100 sample rate is a widely accepted sound file and will play on all three computer platforms and many others. That's the sound format for an Audio CD. That's the format we recommend for archival storage of live performances, audiobook readings, etc.

Re: Irregular clicking that won't stop despite following forum suggestions
I use Focusrite Scarlet for interface mixer Which Scarlett? I don't think there are any Scarlett mixers. The two popular Scarelett models are the 2i2 and the Solo. Neither one is a mixer. You can't "assign" channels or easily produce mixes and versions of the audio. Their job is strictly ...

That's the break when you open an MP3. If you take it out and export a new MP3, the format will put a new break back in.

Here it is. The older Macs report that value. The newer ones don't.

Re: Optimal Sampling & Conversion Preferences for Recording of Spotify?
I would like to record some of my tracks of Spotify. So you really want to digitize a vinyl album and post it to Spotify? When you capture the album, you can export the songs as WAV (Microsoft) 16-bit at 44100 sample rate. That should be your archive because you can easily make those into anything ...

Re: Why does Audacity insert a silence at the start of a mp3?
Is this a function I can turn off? You can stop using MP3. MP3, or its full family name MPEG1 Layer 3 is a branch of a video system and its file size reduction and quality management turned out to be handy for general purpose and end-user production such as listening to music in your iPod. It was n...

Re: Equalization effect has no effect?
Mild P-Popping where you're a little too close to the microphone isn't generally audible. But if it's bad enough, it overloads the microphone, interface or sound mixer. Overload or clipping (snapping or cracking) is clearly audible and nearly impossible to eliminate. Did you do this? http://kozco.co...

I tried to normalize first There's tricks to that. You have to Normalize: Remove DC. Not just Normalize. You have to do it to the individual clips in your production. It doesn't work after the fact. Once you have the clicks, that's usually the end of the world. Use the zoom tools and zoom into one ...

Re: ACX check query.
You may not need the Noise Reduction step if you get rid of the computer fan noise. It is possible to read for ACX with only Mastering 4. I have a good quiet room with no echoes and I can produce a good reading at any time with just Low Rolloff, RMS Normalize and Limiter. I'm calling that sound comp...
