Koz: I have the Scarlett Solo; I apparently inappropriately described it as a mixer We're not offended, but you should know when somebody posts with a problem we hang on every word—literally every word and a mistake anywhere could send us down the wrong path. We have to build your whole world in ou...

Re: Irregular clicking that won't stop despite following forum suggestions
Audacity doesn't easily support ASIO software. That's proprietary software and Audacity can't hide the cost since Audacity is free. Have you ever compiled a software program? If you don't recognize that, then ASIO isn't for you. If you like programming, you can compile a special Audacity program wit...

One more. Did you apply Noise Reduction? It's not in your list. Noise Reduction can make a voice sound mechanical and "cell phony." People are paying so much attention to the noise level they miss what it did to their voice.

Re: Make narration warmer, maybe boost bass?
Remember, you're asking for opinions. I just played your original clip way up at the top and it sounds like you're trying to force-read your voice lower than it wants to go. Instead of a pleasant vocal range you're missing the bottom few notes. It turns into vocal effects instead of voice tones. It'...

MP3 pays attention to content. That's why it's so hard to predict what it's going to do.

Re: FLAC/WAV to MP3 (320 Kbps) --> 16 kHz cut-off
There may be other considerations as well. I created a timeline with pink noise and encoded it at 320 MP3. It carries all the frequencies and tones up to 19.7KHz as measured by Analyze > Plot Spectrum. But I can well believe the stuff above 17KHz is getting whacked off because nobody is going to hea...

You can also get into trouble with sound pathways that have nothing to do with Audacity. Do you use Skype? Skype generates its own pathways and settings and doesn't always tell you about it. Do you like to record internet music or other shows? To do that requires folding Recording (into Audacity) an...

Re: Why does Audacity insert a silence at the start of a mp3?
Multiple postings.... It's only for uploading to soundcloud. What do you expect to happen to it? If it's going to be edited, then go the WAV route. If you expect people to just listen to it, them MP3 is the way to go. MP3 is an end-user format. For a stereo show, pick a compression quality at least ...

Re: Why does Audacity insert a silence at the start of a mp3?
on my Iphone, what other format can I use please? You can cheat supersonically. In Audacity, copy/paste the tune one after the other as long as you want and then export the whole thing as one song. Somebody created a long edit of a favorite song that goes for 20 minutes. It takes me 20 minutes to w...

Re: Why does Audacity insert a silence at the start of a mp3?
Quick note. Audacity uses the 32-float format internally because it does not overload or cause other sound damage, but Audacity converts to a more normal format (16-bit) for export. You can save in 32-float if you want, but if you ever have to send one somewhere, you should call ahead to make sure t...
