Re: How Do I Limit Spikes and Raise Volume of a Podcast
But I have always just clicked export as MP3 Even if you deal with shows that aren't museum quality, you might give a thought to your MP3 settings. MP3 always creates sound distortion. You don't get those tiny file sizes for free. It deletes sounds that are too quiet to hear anyway and in more extr...

Re: Can we use mono mic to fill both channels with Audacity 2.2.2?
your recording level is too high You're going to get a double psychoacoustic hit when you fix that. Distortion sounds loud, so you are going to get a volume drop from just recording lower volume, plus the distortion is going to vanish making it seem quieter yet. There's tools to increase the densit...

Re: Can we use mono mic to fill both channels with Audacity 2.2.2?
Yes, but. See all those red marks in your waves? That's where you were too loud and caused overload distortion and clipping damage in your song. You could do a world of good by backing away from the microphone a bit and not have those. Store-bought music has been heavily processed to sound as loud a...

Re: How Do I Limit Spikes and Raise Volume of a Podcast
The last setting, maximum amplitude is pretty simple. The default is for the volume peaks to stop increasing at 99% of the total volume. That's the adjustment at a different setting that allows some people to use Chris for Audiobook Mastering.

Re: How Do I Limit Spikes and Raise Volume of a Podcast
One note that Chris was designed for a music and speech mix of unknown initial volume. Levelspeech was designed to process spoken word podcasts, etc. It's unknown how it would react to music interstitials and interludes. Post back. Another very common shortcoming is a tool taking some desirable acti...

Oooo. Snow Leopard is even older than mine. I wonder if Audacity supports Show Leopard.

Re: Monitored audio has activity but nothing is recorded.
See the window words right after the microphone are abbreviated? Pull the far right-hand edge of those windows further to the right to make them wider so we can read the whole thing. You're playing back through a SPDIF? Model number, or describe it? Do you have any provision to record internet audio...

Re: Monitored audio has activity but nothing is recorded.
There is activity in the input monitor. What does that mean to you? The Phono interface? am trying to record audio from a turntable through USB. That's slippery, too. You have a USB turntable or you have an analog turntable connected through a USB adapter. Model numbers? Forget the waves and timeli...

You can get the effect from computer, too. I once got a computer where everything sounded like a concert hall. Turns out someone left Concert Effects running in the soundcard by accident.
