Re: Problems editing audio book to pass acx

Thank you for the sound clip. It's not long enough. Do that again except don't stop talking until about 18 seconds has gone by—and try not to breathe for the first second or two. We're not only inspecting for noise. If you're close enough, I post an audiobook mastered example and then tell you how I...

Re: HELP! Same set up over two days, but different audio quality!

Thank you for the test clip. Everybody gets this wrong. The first two seconds is supposed to be room noise only. This is what you sent: Gasp, Shuffle Shuffle, Adjust Chair, Gasp, [Quiet] "Then the two girls..." So no, there isn't enough pure, clean room noise there to measure. You have to ...

Re: Problems editing audio book to pass acx

There is one harmless thing you can do by accident. You may not have enough silence in the show to measure. The noise measurement part of ACX-Check needs about 3/4 second of clean room tone somewhere in the performance or it will give bogus readings. Room Tone is the natural noise the room is making...

Re: Peak Levels and RMS

what step I’m missing We designed an ACX Mastering suite of tools (three) to resolve the RMS (Loudness) and Peak conflict. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=96103 If you already have the special tools, you can scroll down to — Process: . If you recorded your work in a quiet, e...

Re: Problems editing audio book to pass acx

It depends on what the noise is. The tools in Mastering 4 will get you through 2/3 of ACX acceptance. Low Rolloff (Equalization) is good for suppressing rumble and low pitch interference. Some home microphones make their own rumble—you don't necessarily need a truck going by. All gone. RMS Normalize...

Re: HELP! Same set up over two days, but different audio quality!

Mastering 4 will always make a technically compliant sound clip except for noise. Noise is almost always traceable back to equipment or environment issues. The other tools are tinkering around the edges. Again, I'm not entirely sure the integrity of the clip I've been inspecting. If you could shoot ...

Re: HELP! Same set up over two days, but different audio quality!

I did it with obsessively designed wooden sticks. That's one stick multiplied 28 times for a four-wall studio. They're symmetrical. It doesn't matter which way up. http://kozco.com/pix/partiallyConstructedWall.jpg One poster did it with plastic pipes from the Home Store. No glue, they just push toge...

World's worst illustration. Top View. Microphone and box pointed at a wall. Doesn't have to be that extreme a tilt, but any angle other than straight-on is good.

Re: HELP! Same set up over two days, but different audio quality!

Overall Room Tone is quieter post mastering, so you may find it easier to hide breaths and other mouth noises. I think I'm making some unwarranted assumptions. I picked Oils with Noise from your Dropbox example postings as "raw" and with no processing. That's not true, is it? I started to ...

I can do all those things, but you caught me one foot out the door.

Soon to be followed by the other one.

When you quote someone, select it and click the fat quote marks above the forum text panel. I patched one quote so you can see what it looks like.

As we go.
