Re: How to save an edited track in a project

My understanding is that saving the whole project will not save tracks. Actually, it does, but it saves everything in Project form. Try it. Save your show as a different name. Saving a Project is intended for times when you want to pause editing a complex show and have to shut down. You are warned ...

Re: Recording stops by pause button

The P pause button is supposed to pause recording. If you press it again, Audacity should start recording again.

Re: HELP! Same set up over two days, but different audio quality!

Yes, that is the headphone volume control on the front. We assume you can't adjust it while performing. Touching a microphone in mid performance Is Not Done. Pending the results of your long pause test, I'm going to conclude the Meteor is just a high volume microphone. And yes, I'm perfectly clear h...

Re: HELP! Same set up over two days, but different audio quality!

If you constantly plug and unplug the Meteor, that could explain why Audacity keeps forgetting it's there. Still, if you plug and unplug while Audacity is off, it shouldn't make any difference. We point out that Audacity checks for devices when it starts, or when you Transport > Rescan... , so it's ...

Re: HELP! Same set up over two days, but different audio quality!

And that's another Twilight Zone experience. I can change the little microphone setting on the Audacity work window and the setting sticks.

Which Audacity are you using?

Re: HELP! Same set up over two days, but different audio quality!

What does that little microphone window say when you're recording? If you have to keep repeatedly changing it, you should be able to change the default in:

Audacity > Preferences > Devices > Recording > Device> [Set it] > OK.

Re: HELP! Same set up over two days, but different audio quality!

Does that help? It does. From the left: " Core Audio ", Cute Microphone Symbol, " Built In Microphone ." You are recording your MacBook or iPad built-in microphone, not the Meteor. [Stunned look.] I said for a long time I could announce into my MacBook Air in a quiet room and al...

Re: HELP! Same set up over two days, but different audio quality!

I found this buried in a review. during calls over programs like skype or discord. It tends to pick up a lot of background noise and really hums when I don't talk for a little bit. "Ding!" That's the signature of Automatic Gain Control. One of your chat settings is taking control of your M...

Re: HELP! Same set up over two days, but different audio quality!

How do I figure out how "loud" it is? Audacity will be happy to tell you. If you look at the bouncing sound meter(s) while you record, we expect occasional bounces up to about -6dB to -10dB or so. If you have the blue waves set to display and update as you go, the tops of the blue waves s...
