Re: Ribbon Mic recording
The Samson G-Track is a respectable USB microphone. One of the other worker-bees brought theirs in so I could take this picture. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/samsonGTrackConnections.jpg It has zero latency monitoring so you can listen to yourself in real time (and do musical overdubbing if...

Re: Ribbon Mic recording
This should work. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Q1202USB--behringer-xenyx-q1202usb-mixer-with-usb You are warned their smaller mixers don't have 48 volt standard Phantom Power and I think one of them you can't turn it off. Don't let all those knobs scare you. Most of the mixer is duplicate...

Re: Ribbon Mic recording
So there is a transformer in there and it claims an 150 ohm output impedance. So it will work with a straight sound mixer. I'd probably start there. My Peavey PV6 was about $100. I don't think they make that one any more. Behringer makes some very respectable kit, and you may be able to get a USB ve...

Re: Ribbon Mic recording
Is there a usb soundcard that can work No. I'm fairly confident in saying that. Most home USB interfaces have a hard time making a regular microphone pass audiobook and podcast standards. Austin DIY Ribbon Mic Without digging for the Google works, what did you use for the killer magnet and massive ...

One note. Do Not put punctuation marks in filenames. You're allowed Upper Case, Lower Case, Numbers, _Underscore_ and -Dash-. That's it. Other punctuation may cause your show to fail if you have to post it to someone else.

Re: Problems editing audio book to pass acx
Have you done any public speaking or announcing? Reading to the kids at the library counts. Unless you have some announcing experience, this could be a little painful at the beginning. It's not unusual for new readers to read the first few chapters of a book twice. They get to the end of a book and ...

Re: Problems editing audio book to pass acx
Good start. This is a more or less English version of the readings. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=297423#p297423 I got your two volume numbers, RMS and Peak to work, but the room noise is MUCH too loud. It sounds like you're mixing cement in there with you. I can suppress the noise ...

Re: Using Logitech H390 headset with Mac 10.13.6 Sierra
I stopped using my Logitech headset because the noise cancelling property of the microphone made the voice quality trash. But it did cancel the room noise.

it is not distorted at all, nor does it sound distorted. You can turn on View > Show Clipping and Audacity will put red marks on the blue waves to indicate areas very likely to be distorted whether or not you can hear it. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/ShowClipping.jpg See in the equalization d...

Re: usb mixers
a lot of my recordings come out with a lot of echo. Post some of the bad echo and then a clean recording such as the one where you split the stereo track to mono. Native Stereo mixers, adapters and systems don't always do well with being recorded in mono. They can deliver very nasty surprises if yo...
