Re: Advice on how to produce clearest voice for audiobook
Thanks for the illustration. You have the worst possible room. Not only does it have bare walls, but it's square. You will have one strong echo going both directions. I think the echo is always there, it's just seems louder when you get done with effects. I like to compress it Then you talked yourse...

Re: Advice on how to produce clearest voice for audiobook
When you get the echoes and noise solved, you might try AudioBook Mastering 4. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=96103 That will take you from a raw, clean reading to a finished audiobook chapter. It solves all the technical problems but noise. If you have a quiet setup, you ma...

Mac TextEdit has a preference for that. I still do HTML corrections that way.

Re: ONE DISTORTED CHANNEL WITH STEREO RECORDING
I read that three times. You can't have perfect. matched recording levels on the sound meter and end up with very different Left and Right sound later. See above. Swap your left and right sound and see if the trouble follows you or stays the same. If it stays the same, the problem is from the comput...

No more Notepad that comes with Windows? Did they try to make it into Mini-Word for Windows?

Re: Advice on how to produce clearest voice for audiobook
I wouldn't fall in love with fixing it in post production. ACX Audiobooks hates highly processed voices. If you have a live room, you can add a mini-studio to help with acoustics and echoes. This is one from porta-booth. https://voiceoveressentials.com/product/porta-booth-plus/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjtz...

Re: Problems editing audio book to pass acx
I downloaded the RMS normalize already and tried it Those were the wrong words. Using RMS Normalize by itself is dangerous because it can cause other problems. Did you try Mastering 4? Post a 20 second sound test from a raw, unprocessed reading. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/TestClip/Record_A_...

Re: Problems editing audio book to pass acx
We posted a suite of tools for Audiobook Mastering. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=96103 It is a suite of tools, a harmonious grouping. Start with a raw reading and apply the tools in order. Don't help. There is one additional tool you don't already have. You will be downloa...

Re: Problems editing audio book to pass acx
I'm just reading through that again. I don't think anybody ever asked it that way. The only two controls you have during recording are quiet environment and voice volume. As a fuzzy rule, record as loud as possible without overloading the sound channel. Voice volume is a lot more unstable that you t...

Re: Leveler plug-in
And yes it always did that. Leveller was kept around after the effects shuffle because it's a terrific way to create the Taxi Cab and Air Traffic Controller distortion by multiple pass applications at high settings. "Air West 23 Clear for Departure two-four right, Good Day!" It's not recom...
