Re: Preferences while recording vocal
You can get this effect if you're not recording from a real thing. Look at the device toolbar and make sure you're recording from a thing you can touch. What does it say next to the microphone symbol? USB Audio CODEC , for example is the digital name for my microphone interface. I can reach out and ...

Re: Slight echo
Are you listening to the computer or the music center? Both? I expect the computer sound to be late compared to the music center.

Re: Cannot record with latest version 2.3.0
Close Audacity. Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Sound > Input (I assume they didn't change this part too much). Does the sound meter jump when play something? Is there more than one USB Audio CODEC ? Audacity gets its sound from the computer, not the device. It has to make it this far to a...

Yes. I have a Behringer UM2. Which microphone have you got?

Re: Error opening recording device
I've tried re-installing the software to no avail. No. It won't. Windows has a bit of a mine field you need to get through to make your microphone or interface work. Close Audacity. Your microphone needs to appear and work in Windows before you do anything else. This is Win7, but I understand the b...

Re: Microfone for voice with very flat response
We do really well with maker names and part numbers. If you have an XLR interface, why don't you use that for the microphone? I didn't follow your connections. If the interface has a TRS socket, that's usually for a high volume connection such as a mixer or an instrument such as a guitar. I would no...

Re: Repairing/cleaning up corrupted audio
Yes. I think that's the error. The woman's voice is there more than once per word. It's a funny echo and we can't do anything with echoes.

Re: Repairing/cleaning up corrupted audio
No. That's gone. Did the audio get that way over several seconds and then clean itself up over several seconds? That sounds exactly like a recording error I got a long time ago. It's almost like it's trying to be two different recordings happening at the same time off rhythm from each other. The bad...

Describe that with more words. Are you smashing two different files together? Deleting a small part of an existing file? That will help us suggest solutions.when i edit portions of a file

Re: How to undo echo after its been applied
that does not effect the echo/reverb which occurs during speech Those tools can give you echoy or vibrating words over a velvety quiet background. It's safe to assume most of the Audacity effects and filters are one-way. If you haven't closed the project yet, you can Edit > UNDO. If you closed the ...
