Re: Microfone for voice with very flat response
I know I'm on record saying it's possible to get almost any kind of microphone to work reasonably well, but there are some conditions. I have a really good, soundproofed room with no echoes. In fact, I can get a wide variety of microphones to work, most reasonably well. If you have a really terrible...

I don't know of a service, but someone else may post.

Re: "No Devices found" under Edit - Preference - Recording
Audacity gets it's sound from Windows, not the device. If Windows can't find it, that's the end.
Also note, Audacity checks for devices when it starts. So leave Audacity off until you resolve Windows.

Re: Question for anyone who has put a book up on ACX
That one's new. So I can make an MP3 play at the wrong speed by starting out at 48000 rather than 44100? I bet that's not enough of a speed shift to trigger any QC errors.

Re: Preferences while recording vocal
I am wondering if the problem is in the fact that I'm recording through a mixer board. That's terrific troubleshooting. Nobody ever gets it that far. There's a place for you here on the forum. Many mixers have a button called "USB To Main" or something similar. So yes, it's totally possib...

Re: Microfone for voice with very flat response
The object of the model number is so we know what the microphone is and how it's supposed to work. If not a common microphone, we can't do that. There's nothing wrong with a UM2, but you do need to use a higher quality XLR microphone to do good recordings.

Re: Big problem, I think I’ve done something wrong!
This is very strange as the issue comes and goes. The obsessives out here will immediately start writing down and graphing variables such as show size, frequency of failure and humidity, but I think I would start with a nice clean Windows shutdown (Shift-Shutdown) and then, when you start it, do th...

Re: Post processing for radio voice over
a Rode Podcaster microphone, which is good, but very flat. In other words, it sounds like you. There's actually two problems with voice conversion. The software has to take your voice apart because not all timbers and pitches change with announcer, and it rarely works with a home studio because the...

Re: Trak 2 records Trak 1 AND 2, cant get seperation
Im pretty sure its some stupid little thing and I'm just being an idiot. Probably not. Or at least not this time. Sometimes overdubbing can fight actively with other services on the machine such as Skype or Chat. Make sure all of those are completely shut down and don't try to start automatically w...
