Re: I messed up and need help with ACX submission!
So all the chapters (despite sounding harsh) match in quality and sound. If you're OK with that, use Mastering 4 so it passes ACX Check , submit and see what they say. What, exactly did they complain about in your rejection? There is a way to submit a test and not have to ping-pong massive sound fi...

Re: Audacity & Telephone Call Recording
We should remember that call recording without special considerations is illegal in many places.
"This call will be recorded for quality assurance."
That and Audacity cannot be used for surveillance, conflict resolution or law enforcement.
Just a note.

Re: I kept banging the table during recording- is there a way to remove it without distorting my voice?
The temptation will be to record just those few words and try to slide them in with no fuss. I know Hollywood Professionals who can do that.....
I can't.

I can't.

Find a way to mount the microphone off the table. What he said. The boom and shock mount technique is the gold standard... http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MBP_StarbucksStudioShoot-500w.jpg ...but you can fake it with home materials. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MicBookTowel-500t.jpg Also p...

Re: Do ceramic cartridge rips require RIAA EQ?
I understand a ceramic cartridge applies RIAA EQ on the fly. They're "RIAA Adjacent." RIAA has lumps and bumps in the curve as it was designed around commonly available electrical components at the time. Ceramic or "crystal" cartridges have one continuous curve. However, it may ...

Re: Audiobook distribution
can't you just lower the volume on the layer wiht the music in it? Totally, but somebody at ACX had to go down through the performance and find the error, and you had to drop everything to correct it. Plus, music makes pre-production storage more complicated and post production archive something of...

Re: I messed up and need help with ACX submission!
If this is your first reading ever, there's yet another reason to consider reading again. New Readers frequently find that their final chapters, when they have become more experienced and better quality presenters don't at all match the first few chapters. This violates the "everything must mat...

Re: I messed up and need help with ACX submission!
From your test posting. Do Not use MP3 anywhere but the ACX Submission, and then strictly follow the recommendations. Export WAV (Microsoft) 16-bit : Export each chapter reading or logical stopping point as its own WAV. This prevents you from reading it all again if Audacity or the computer goes int...

Re: I messed up and need help with ACX submission!
Of course it's worse than that. ACX likes all your chapters and segments to match. They hate anything disruptive or that takes your attention away from the story such as separately processing each chapter or changing the microphone. One of the reasons we got your submission to pass technical so easi...
