Re: Error Opening Project: Couldn't find the project data folder
THE AUP is a text file that tells Audacity what to do with all that stuff in the_DATA folder of the same name. The show name is burned into the AUP file and if you don't remember what the original name was, you can open the AUP file in a text editor and read it. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/au...

Re: Recorded file disappears after being saved
Are you on a network-connected machine or are your storage systems on the cloud? Audacity doesn't much like systems like that. It doesn't fully understand having a network in the middle of a machine. What was the filename you used? You can get into trouble if you use punctuation marks on some machin...

Re: Telephone equalization effect
One more. The original carbon microphone in a handset is highly susceptible to compression. So for a real convincing effect, you also need to squeeze the dynamic range of the voice. Remember Leveler? That would do it.
Where did we leave it.....?
Effect > Distortion > Leveler.

Re: Telephone equalization effect
The telephone effect is an approximation of what actually happens in the Real World. The phone company used to and I think might still do produce network signaling tones at 2600 Hz. That's where the 2600 Magazine name comes from, from amateur techies messing with the phone system. So your voice has ...

save multiple backups of the raw recording in various locations The Party Line is Export raw recordings as perfect quality WAV (Microsoft) 16-bit and be able to point to two different physical places that contain your work. Audacity Projects are not recommended for this. USB thumb drives, external ...

Re: Converting Ultrasound to audible range
20-100kHz And a caution here: 44100 sample rate (Audacity default) will only digitize audio up to 20 KHz. Many interfaces and soundcards have filtering to prevent operation higher. Even if you push the sample rate up to 96000 (sound up to 48000), or 192000 (sound up to 96000) the computer and inter...

Re: RMS Normalize makes audio sound tinny
On the other hand, if you're recording in stereo, two blue waves, there are ways of connecting a microphone incorrectly that can produce very bad effects with RMS Normalize as it manages left and right independently.
And no-one wrote you can't have more than one problem.

Re: RMS Normalize makes audio sound tinny
Has anyone else had this problem? You're number one! Something is broken. Normalize and RMS Normalize are cousins. They both change the volume of a clip and nothing else (Normalize can change DC level which is slippery because DC is a microphone defect and not sound). Normalize, in common with most...
