Re: Files Size Issue

As a test. Export that same song as WAV (Microsoft) 16-bit. That's the real file size. FLAC has a tuner to control the compression. From memory, it trades off compression speed versus file sie. But you may be experiencing compression magic. You can't easily make a compressed song out of a compressed...

Re: Can't record with overdub turned on! HELP

One more pass. Can You Play To The Device under any condition? If microscopically viewing the recording service isn't getting anywhere, maybe it's not the recorder.

Re: Can't record with overdub turned on! HELP

There is one significant difference between straight recording and overdubbing. Audacity has to record from your device, but also has to play to it as well—at the same time. If either one fails, the overdub session will drop dead. If you drop overdubbing, can you simple play to the Audient ID22 and ...

Re: Manual for Mac users

Where should I, as a Mac user, start? You can probably start by not printing the pages. It's pleasant to think about a nice, concise, simple paper manual that you can read curled up in front of a roaring fire and we're working on that, but so far it's entirely on-line. There is no print formatting....

Re: Can't record with overdub turned on! HELP

You have to record from a thing. I record from a Behringer microphone interface that arrives in Audacity as USB Audio CODEC. That's what my Audacity recording window next to the microphone symbol says. That's a real thing I can touch. You can't record from WASAPI , What-U-Hear or Stereo Mix . Those ...

You can import a large variety of sound files by adding the FFMPEG software. Scroll down from the installer page.

Re: PITCH RANGES - EMPHASIZING SELECTIVELY

Harmonics and overtones, the quality of the musical note, go up in pitch. So bass notes all have some tones that appear under the right hand. You know when the oboe plays that "A" at the beginning of a performance? Harmonics and overtones are the reason the instruments can all play that on...

not the posting right away - that sounds scary. Maybe not so much. This is the panel that explains how to record and post a forum sound clip. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/TestClip/Record_A_Clip.html We may identify sound problems before you go through house and hours of stumbling in the darkn...

Re: Isolate voices

The Party Line is Audacity can't be used to separate a mixed performance into individual voices, instruments and sounds. The process fails way more often than it succeeds. If you do get one to work well, then you got very lucky. Do Not post a YouTube video how easy it was.

Re: Telephone equalization effect

how can I get information like the exact filter settings (cutoff frequencies, roll off, etc.) You can read my post above. In the telco network, your voice has to be gone by 2600Hz, so their filters are much sharper on the high side than the low, So actual voice filtering is non-symmetrical. This is...
