Re: What is this hum?

The analyzer is biased. If it says everything is OK, then there's a good chance everything is OK. If it says something is wrong, stop using the socket for anything and call an electrician.

Re: What is this hum?

Will the power brick on the Audient plug in the wall upside down? Try that. You have award-winning 60Hz hum which means you have power problems in the US (or other 60Hz country). But wait! That's not all! You have two different hums in there and that's what gives you that Mum..Mum..Mum..Mum.. sound ...

Re: Total Audacity noob here

There's a scary test you can do. Can you overload the sound channel—on purpose? Announce while watching the bouncing sound meters. Keep getting louder and yell if you have to until the meters go all the way up and turn bright red. If your sound meters are always blue, you may have them set wrong. Ri...

I'm going to do the inventory and see if I have enough half-inch PVC to make a simple sound cave with water pipes.

Re: Total Audacity noob here

Cool. I know somebody with a North Caroline version of that voice and he would regularly draw a crowd when he told stories. That's a darn good start. Sounding like a Hollywood or New York announcer is not required. The goal is to draw a crowd. I got your submission to pass Audiobook specifications e...

that he can place his head in and record. I suspect he meant something like this. MiniSoundBooth.png And the object is not to put your head inside as much as it is to announce into it—to reject most of the noise and echo the room is making. No idea why it worked You got lucky. Everybody knows a digital service is either there or it's not. There is no partial connection or other distortion or damage. But you can have a perfect digital connection that's not present all the time. That gives you things like a perfect transfer of five minu...

What's the work? You also have the Left sound louder than the Right. Did you want that? You can use the two AudioBook tools, RMS Normalize followed by Limiter. RMS Normalize has to be installed separate. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=96103 If that's an audiobook reading, yo...

Re: Editing Samples for Use in LMMS

How can I make sure of the BPM I don't know that there is a foolproof way to read Beats Per Minute from a sound file. The problem is not simple songs with a 4/4 thumping disco beat. The problem is fancy songs with back beats, syncopation and occasional theme and no rhythm segments. There's no relia...
