Re: cd playback.

If the goal is to produce an Audio CD, you have to burn an Audio CD with an Audio CD authoring and burning program such as Windows Media or iTunes. Both programs allow you to arrange the songs however you want and set the spacing between songs. Other burning techniques do not allow that. https://man...

Re: Random Buffering(?) Gaps In Recordings

I think there's a video version of this problem. There was a computer and external drive combination that was dead simple and obvious for video production use and really popular with people shoveling high volumes of work. It was also marginally unstable and featured crashed work every so often seemi...

Re: How does a file become a Project?

It won't open the WAV file, either? Does the WAV file open in any other app?

Do you get the _DATA folder?
I can create a music file called Test, Export it to an external folder as a .wav file.
What does that mean? Are you using Network Connected Storage or Cloud Storage?

Re: Random Buffering(?) Gaps In Recordings

I agree drive fragmentation issues are unlikely. What's the job? All that and nobody once said what the job was and what you're recording. How did you transfer your job between machines? Did you build both machines? I'd be a lot happier if you didn't have one drive with multiple partitions on it. So...

Re: Total Audacity noob here

The "legacy" H2 being probably never available. That's safe. The "new" ones in a box are going for original list or higher prices. In other words, the recorders will work fine for the actual recording of my voice, and I shouldn't have any of the noise artifact issues from my PC ...

Re: Projet saving issues

If you have not closed Audacity, you should be able to Edit > UNDO and get the show back. If it's a single stereo or mono performance, Export > WAV (Microsoft) 16-bit to get a perfect quality, safety version of the show. open the AUP file If you closed Audacity... What happens if you double click th...

Re: How does a file become a Project?

You should wait for a Linux elf. The versions and issues are different for you.

File > Export should not create an AUP file.

Re: Random Buffering(?) Gaps In Recordings

A quick troubleshooting note: I know the goal is to make it perfect, but don't ignore the conditions if you find a way to make it worse. Any abnormal conditions or symptoms will produce valuable information. You can still manually defragement the drive. Is it spinning metal or solid state? SSDs don'...

Re: Newbie needs help... 48K WAV?

You can change the sampling rate with the little window at the bottom left of the Audacity work surface. The default is 44100 which is the sampling rate of an Audio CD. 48000 is an old friend. That's the video sampling rate. A lot of my voice recordings went to the video people, so almost all of my ...

Re: Total Audacity noob here

I've got an old version of the Zoom H2.
A Legacy H2. You win.

I just missed buying one on eBay by one of those services that bids a dollar more 3 seconds before the bidding closes.
