Re: Recording an interview
Is Skype an option? Skype has introduced a way to record both sides of an interview on the Skype servers . That can solve many of the delay and voice steering problems that a home user would have—and that you're having. https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA12395/how-do-i-record-my-skype-calls the PCs ...

Re: Unable to monitor noise floor - getting error code 9999
I attempt to monitor my noise floor before recording By doing what? I can totally think of ways to do that, but I'm wondering how you were going to do it. As Steve above, your computer lost contact with your microphone. Probably the worst problem might be the computer is too busy. Now you get to fi...

quiet, unwanted noises Such as what? There are a number of different tools and filters designed to suppress Home Recording problems such as lip smacks, breath sounds, P Popping and my favorite, tongue ticks. Since you can't have software that "knows" what spoken words are, the tools tend ...

You don't have to move the meters down. You should be able to just pull sideways (or up and down) and the other windows will move out of the way. As Trebor above, you can pull them longer and taller as needed. I think there's also a provision to make them go up and down rather than sideways. There a...

Re: Help request
Mastering 4 will always satisfy Peak and RMS. If you massively fail Noise, then you need to go back and sort what happened to the original performance. There is always a little microphone noise drifting through any performance (ffffff). It's your job to make your voice loud enough so nobody notices ...

Re: Is it best to use notch filter in spots or entire audio?
remove background hum. You should remove the background hum before you record. It's nice to think you can solve performance problems by applying filters and effects, but they all affect the quality of the voice and are to be avoided. It's a danger sign when someone goes into a project planning on r...

washer-dryer in the next room are being recorded along with my narration. Since Noise Reduction in any setting but the most gentle affects the voice, I should avoid recording when they're running. I'll be interested to see what anyone else experiences with it. I'll be interested in what ACX thinks ...

Since I do hear what she is talking about That's where we disagree. She's describing a real, known, obvious-to-everybody problem and I don't understand how it can be happening. My head is drifting off into monitor, headphone or computer "unicorn" problems because they do happen although s...

That tiny squiggly line (~) at the front of the address is a big deal. It has special meaning to Macs and Linux.
