Re: Midi sysex?
I was surprised Audacity would play MIDI at all given it's not a sound format.

That's my guess.Does the audacity interface simply not support sysex messages to the midi device

Re: Creating time delineated tracks- top ten
Audacity doesn't do anything while recording.cannot figure out how to create these while recording.

Re: Formatting of posts: buttons have no effect
They work a treat on a Mac. Maybe this is a Windows 8 problem? The problem only occurs with Firefox (63.0.3, 32-bit).

Re: Chains disappeared??
From Google: Batch Processing We have added a collection of features to Audacity for 2.3.0 that are related. They come from a project to improve batch processing. They are described in more detail in following sections. The project led to improved: Macros feature (replaces Chains), for repetitive ta...

Re: Can't record anything from the mike
Is it USB? Sometimes headsets will arrive as complex devices rather than a simple Headphone Device and Microphone Device. Another layer of software or device driver will be needed to straighten it out. I think this is a problem the gaming people have. I can use it in zoom and skype Also possible: Is...

Re: What to apply to meet ACX Check
If that's the algorithm, it would be better to have it ignore any sections which contain true flat-line silence. And where might that be? If you do that inside Audacity, the cutoff would be somewhere in the -120dB or so because of the 32-floating internal format. You can't use -96dB (16-bit), eithe...

New posts on either thread will bubble up so we see it.
You have a ways to go to reach the current champion. That would be Ian in Hollywood at 39 forum chapters and about a year.

Re: What to apply to meet ACX Check
ACX Check depends on good actors and a reasonable production style. That's one reason the process of producing a forum test clip is written as it is. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/TestClip/Record_A_Clip.html You can get artificially low numbers by adding Generate Silence anywhere in the piece s...

Re: Track screen area starting point not staying in its place
There's a setting to freeze the timeline in one place no matter where you're playing. Obviously that's good for editing because the view doesn't keep slipping out from under you. I don't remember where that setting is and timeline management picked up a bunch of new tools since the last time I did i...
