+1 on the idea of starting with small projects. Travel and audiobooks don't go well. ACX puts a lot of stress on your chapters matching. In general they don't like distractions. You never actually hit what you're doing. What are you recording, with what and from where? Some microphones and systems are not adjustable in Audacity while recording, some are.

That usually fails because the poster checks exactly the same things every time. Branch out a bit. What else could cause that problem? Glad you found it.

Audacity doesn't have "markers." However, we do have Labels. You can place labels anywhere, title them and they become sticky or magnetic. You can also label a region.
