Re: Projects seem pretty fragile

Some paragraph breaks in your text would make your question more easily readable.
That's still true. Why don't you go back up to that solid block of text two before this post and put some paragraph breaks in. My eyes are falling out trying to read it.

Re: AIF Files Playback with static throughout

Any suggestions on what I can do to troubleshoot? Step 1. Find somebody with a Mac and see if they open and play clean in either iTunes or QuickTime Player. For the price of a coffee or dinner, that will tell you the event split. If it's broken there, send it back. If it's fine, fix the computer. Koz

Re: Playing along backing tracks

If you can't get overdubbing to work without an error, it's possible you have a different mismatch than any of the normal ones. When you overdub, Audacity has to play the backing track to the interface perfectly at the same time it records the new performance. The Solo is a native mono device. It's ...

Re: ACX-check plug-in is 'hidden'

It's an almost iPhone. My joke is the only thing it doesn't have is a dial tone. It has both voice (processed) and music (unprocessed) recorders and a microphone. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/iPodMicrophone3-650.jpg It does record voice—poorly—but nobody I know would use it to record music. If...

Waiting for the day when I can narrate into my iPhone
Too late.

It didn't work properly and I never went back to figure out why. I know people who do reasonable recordings on these things, so it is a puzzlement.

Now the bad news: those plugins are expen$ive
Or, you could stick with the ironing board and moving pads. One-time solutions.

Re: ACX-check plug-in is 'hidden'

Is there a Genius Bar or Apple Store anywhere near you? Even my sister in Schenectady has one (in next-door Albany). They give classes. not-really-technical Windows person Recovering Windows user? I could usually force Windows to do mostly what I wanted but it was never a good match. I've been doing...

Mac file-naming Since it's not unusual for me to have to ship sound files to Other People, I use filenames that pass all file transfer and operating systems. Upper case, lower case, numbers -dash- and _underscore_. Screen Shot 2018-12-05 at 14.26.02.png There are reasons to avoid spaces, too. Scree...

https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=96103 That's mastering as simple and "bullet resistant" as I could work it out. It's three tools. Low Rolloff (rumble filter), RMS Normalize (loudness) and Limiter (blue wave peaks). If you have a quiet environment, you can post that ...

Re: Suddenly muffled vocal sound

Is it a laptop with a spinning metal (non-SSD) drive?

This is a little like "What's wrong with my car, it's acting funny."

I'd be shot-gunning this and looking for unusual or unexpected behavior (said the Mac person).

This is where one of the Windows elves can jump in here any time.
