Re: Export multiple odd behavior with multiple tracks

end up with 3 stereo tracks: the original stereo track, one with compression, and a third that's the mix and render of the first two.
One above the other or one after the other?

Re: Can't monitor recording level during recording

Unlike other microphones that look like this, the Podcaster is an end-fire microphone. You talk into the grill-end, not the side. Screen Shot 2018-12-12 at 18.42.05.png The instructions say to open the microphone in Mac System Preferences and adjust the volume. Installing the Podcaster on Mac OS X •...

Re: El Capitan

LP through Mac OS X 11.6
El Capitan is OS X 10.11.6, not 11.6. You should be careful of accuracy when you post for help. Don't abbreviate or use buzzword shortcuts.

Re: El Capitan

If your Mac has a built-in microphone, can you record from that?

Re: El Capitan

What's the machine? I'm typing this on an Early 2015 MacBook Air. I've been doing this Mac thing for a while and while Apple makes upgrading very convincing and convenient, I've never had a forced upgrade. It's probably not a system problem. If you have the bouncing sound meter in System Preferences...

Re: Normalizing using RMS as opposed to Peaks.

is it possible to get a Plugin or something to use within Audacity which can handle RMS Normalizing? Fair warning RMS Normalize is not a "get out of jail card." It will respond to rumble and microphone data errors you can't hear and may create overload and clipping distortion. That's why ...

Re: rms normalization relation to limiting help?

Had enough? That will only get you past the ACX technical requirements. ACX Check is an Audacity approximation of the ACX tests you have to pass before your performance goes to the ACX Human Quality Control. That's where you go to die if you can't read out loud. You might consider posting one of the...

Re: rms normalization relation to limiting help?

Audacity saves Projects but exports sound files. Projects are used when you want to save your editing environment and everything in it except UNDO. They are, by their nature, complex and more brittle than single, stand-alone, perfect-quality sound files such as WAV (Microsoft) 16-bit. If the machine...

Re: rms normalization relation to limiting help?

https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=96103 This is a long-winded way of introducing a three-tool process. It is a "suite," a harmonious grouping. The tools create intentional errors and clean up after each other. Don't ad-lib. If you have a quiet, well-behaved recording,...

Re: Normalizing using RMS as opposed to Peaks.

This may be a good time for Chris's Compressor. It's a third party audio processor whose goal in life is to make it so Chris could listen to opera in the car. The default settings are pretty gentle, but I use a variation that simulates stiffer broadcast processing. https://theaudacitytopodcast.com/c...
