Is there a way to do this?

Audacity can't split a mixed performance into individual instruments, sounds or voices.

Audacity doesn't do anything in real time. It's a post-production audio editor.

It can do that if the connection to the sound device is ratty enough to stop passing audio, but no so ratty that the connection fails. Bad USB connections can do this.

You can do that in post production. Tracks > Mix > Mix Stereo to Mono . That will give you a single mixed blue wave that will play to both left and right speakers. We should consider the view, too. Waveform view only sees sound down to about -25dB to -30dB before it becomes undetermined (invisible). You can easily hear into the -60s or lower.
