Re: audiobook recording - is recording in mono a good idea?
Thanks for a complete question. I think the Mini(s) are the only machines that still have a good-quality stereo analog input, but I don't know about the one that came out about ten minutes ago. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MacLineIn-650.jpg You're right. ACX recommends strongly that you su...

Re: Noise Reduction
You can try Noise Gate. https://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyquist_Effect_Plug-ins#Noise_Gate You use it on the perfect quality WAV file you exported right after the original recording. Some people get this to work, but it's not simple and success depends on how bad the noise is. It's far better to ...

Re: Noise Reduction
As Trebor above, you can't take noise reduction distortion out. It is recommended that you Export and save all your original, raw recordings in perfect quality WAV sound files. Then edit and do post production.

Re: Noise Reduction
Can anyone help and give directions to have a clear sound? The metalic/bubbly/wine-glass sound is caused by excessive noise reduction. Fix the room or the recording technique. How are you recording now and what are you recording? Do you have control of the room enough to put soundproofing in? You c...

Re: Audio is Distorted upon importing project
when I import a project into Audacity You Import stand-alone sound files and Open Projects. That shows a badly overloaded production. Any sound where the blue waves reach the top and bottom of the timeline is very probably damaged. Do you have WAV backups of the work? What is the show? Describe it....

Re: creating mp3 from aup vs from aiff
__AIFF files are MUCH larger A good first step is stop calling it an AUP. An AUP is a tiny text file that Audacity uses to assemble all the little parts and fragments in a similarly-named _DATA folder into your show. This is an Audacity Project. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MyMusicAUP-MyMusic...

Re: I cannot record
But that may be getting ahead of the game. Audacity doesn't get its sound from the device. It gets it from Windows. Go into the Windows panels (right-click the speaker icon, lower right) and see if Windows is on top of this. You should be able to make a little sound meter bounce. After you get that ...

Re: Do I need a phantom power box?
manual does mention "USB audio" once It also says MIDI support, but only has one USB connection. How do they do that? There are ways to force your microphone to work. Use a third party Phantom Adapter and then on to a passive direct box for the conversion to your Mic-In. https://www.guita...

Re: Can we lock wave position while edit its previous sections?
We may be overthinking this. Do you just want to keep the waves from moving? You can "Pin" the waveform, do what you want and then unpin it.

I'm using headphones.
We can't see you so we have to build your machine in our imaginations across multiple timezones. Don't keep it a secret. What sort of headphones? USB? Bluetooth?
