You would do this to record on-line music or YouTube sound, but not overdubbing. Make sure you're recording from a real thing like your microphone, m...

Re: UMC202HD stops recording randomly on Windows 10

Re: Waveform is identical at different bitrates

320 MP3 and 128 MP3 are for all practical purposes perfect formats. 128 used to be the Audacity default MP3 setting. You can't tell what happened by listening. If you want to see the differences, open the 128 work in Audacity and export it again at 128. that should give you a reduced quality file an...

Dither is there to avoid distortion caused by conversion of Audacity's super high quality internal format down to 16-bit for export. You might be trading an inaudible, very low volume dither signal for very audible conver...

Re: Is there a technical name for degraded audio over time?

The recording is just a small software test interview of someone using an application in development who during the interview provides feedback on their thoughts regarding the software and its usability. Cool. Is there music or any sustained sound or effects in the presentation? Is it all speaking ...

Re: Is there a technical name for degraded audio over time?

just a couple of seconds The more the better up to about ten seconds. Are you able to repeat the problem with something that is not confidential? That's super important. If you can't reproduce the problem, then in computer-speak, there is no problem. Everybody knows occasional problems exist (devel...

Re: Project decompressed and not working to open??

AUDACITY PROJECTS Audacity doesn't save sound files. It saves Projects. This is a Project. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/MyMusicAUP-MyMusic_DATA.jpg https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/audacity_projects.html The AUP is a text file that tells Audacity what to do with all the stuff in the _DATA ...
