Re: Gurgly sound after I restart computer
Do you have Finder set to show you file name extensions? Finder > Preferences > [X] Show all Extensions... If you have a WAV file, does it say something-something.wav , or just something-something? You keep working on WAV files but your description of the problem is the poster child for damaged comp...

Re: Lowering instrument volume
In mixed song? You don't.
Audacity can't take a mixed song apart into individual voices, instruments or sounds.

Re: Removing control points
It is strongly recommended that you Export WAV safety copies of all original work just to avoid this problem. If your processing or editing turns to peanut butter, you can just trash it all and open up the protection copy. WAV is an uncompressed format and essentially perfect. You know when you pick...

Re: mic volume levels
That and what's the job? Stereo has two identical microphones placed side by side and plugged into a stereo interface such as a Behringer UMC202. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/UMC202HD--behringer-u-phoria-umc202hd Audacity can only connect to one device at a time. How were you going to do ...

MEMCHECK, but a really early version. Google your brains out. It has to be able to do multiple passes and have more than one test. MEMTEST seems to be current.

Re: recording - realtek - asio4all
You don't have to derive the connection info by digging through setups, you can do the scratch test. Start recording and scratch each microphone. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/clips/ScratchTest2.mp3 And yes it does sound like you're recording the wrong microphone. Recording on Windows can be scary....

Re: trying to export midi and other files
I recorded a piano track via MIDI Let's parse that a bit. You played a MIDI-enabled keyboard and sent the MIDI programming language to the Audacity machine. For Audacity (or any app) to play the music, it would have to search for a software keyboard on the computer and play that. Then, Audacity has...

Re: Is there a way to record phone convos through Audacity for interviews?
There is a desperation method. Run your cellphone in conference mode, sit it in the middle of a table with a good thick pad under it and record the room with any microphone, such as the one in your laptop, and Audacity. That's not a completely dreadful way to go if you have a reasonably quiet room (...

There's another one. I believe Skype offers a service where they will record both sides of an interchange. You can download it and have your way with it.

Re: Is there a way to record phone convos through Audacity for interviews?
What was in your mind as you were writing that? An App? An Audacity plug-in? I use a special microphone that plugs into my ear. Anything I hold up to my head gets recorded. Cellphone, land-line, flip-phone. Doesn't matter. Doesn't work in conference mode. It's designed to plug into an Olympus record...
