Re: No Woman, No Cry

The first two seconds of room tone show little or no change between the clips, and as Trebor above, there's definitely a motor back there somewhere. Even if the noise level didn't dive inside the mini studio, I would expect to hear some change between the clips. One acoustic trick. What's behind you...

Re: No Woman, No Cry

It makes absolutely no difference which way you record. The noise is identical. That's impossible, so now we get to figure out what happened. My first thought is you're not recording from what you think you're recording from. Without digging back through the posts, what's the computer? You could hav...

Re: mic volume levels

RT2 Steinberg UR-RT2 You shouldn't abbreviate when you're in diagnosis. Yes, that should work fine. If you split Stereo after you capture the stereo show, that will allow you to make corrections to one side independent of the other. You should record the assembly as close to perfectly as possible. ...

Re: Gurgly sound after I restart computer

The original file is mono, one blue wave, but the distorted file is stereo, two waves. How did you make the stereo performance?

If all you did was import and then export, you would have created another mono performance.

As we go.

Re: Gurgly sound after I restart computer

Wave files say "something.wave"
Can we assume you mean "something.wav"?

System analysis isn't a good place to make typos.

Re: I cannot record

@misterfloyd
I have the appropriate settings, and have looked over everything one last time.
We need an answer to that specific question. Can you make the Windows sound meter jump with your microphone? Leave Audacity closed.

Re: very low mic input since updated to 2.3

I had to speak much louder and closer to the mic to get to -6dB (never mind the ideal -3dB) -3dB is the delivery limit for audiobooks. Live recording peaks should settle in at about -10dB to -6dB. That works out to blue wave peaks about half-way or a little less. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/...

Re: Can't Record

Audacity checks for the FFMpeg software to give it additional abilities to handle different sound formats. You can make that error go away by installing FFMpeg. https://www.audacityteam.org/download/windows/ Scroll down in that page to optional downloads. If you've been doing this for weeks, did you...

Re: Adjusting audio levels in separate parts of a track

There is an Auto Duck feature where a service automatically reduces the volume of a backing track in response to the presence of a voice. Depending on how much backing music you need, I've become a fan of just leaving it low volume all the time. In real life "ducking" means the orchestra m...

Re: Gurgly sound after I restart computer

Wild guess:

If you're overdubbing live music, does the mixed show bouncing sound meter go all the way up into the red.
