Re: Help editing and saving track after crash

My problem occurs when trying to apply effects to the track Your problem occurred before that. When Audacity recovered the show after the crash, it's a terrifically good idea to save the Project and Export a WAV protection copy. That's when you may have discovered that the show is still damaged and...

Re: Please help with recording

Screen Shot 2019-01-17 at 20.48.41.png It suggests strongly that you should be able to do what you did. Pug it into your computer and record the work. Can you hear the music at the mixer headphone connection? Apple (upper left) > System Preferences > Sound > Input. Can you see the mixer there and c...

Re: Bug with EQ curve

I apply a high pass filter before I compress.

Re: Audacity now "Not Responding" when I import WAV files.

One more. Audacity does UNDO by making a copy of the whole project. So now two massives. Then three.

If you have a spinning metal drive, you should be waiting for Audacity to finish housekeeping.

Re: Audacity now "Not Responding" when I import WAV files.

Their sizes range from 300 MB to 500 MB each. How do you know they're WAV files? Windows loves to hide identifying filename extensions and if they're really highly compressed MP3 files (for example), Audacity will de-compress them to their original size, and further, Audacity works in a super high ...

Re: How Can I See dB On Vertical Scale?

get all weird looking That's what happens when you try to combine how your ears work with how your eyes work. Note if you picked 60dB for the bouncing light sound meter range, Waveform (dB) will be 60dB, too. That's what the sound actually looks like . What it's not is handy or useful, since only t...

Re: How Can I See dB On Vertical Scale?

Your correct. No. Changing the home screens is rough. Cool Edit does it in dB, too. They distort the display so the actual waves are in percent (volts), but the measurement is in dB. Note half-way up is -6dB which is proper. Right around -25dB, the waves are so small as to be useless. But you would ...

Re: Isolating violin from the restaurant scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Unscramble an egg and take the chocolate out of a cake. There's no personality or key to use for the separation. You know how to recognize the violins because you're human. The computer just sees a lot of very similar sounds. The vocal reduction tools mostly work on the key of whether or not the sou...

it's so easy to take it for granted....
Also easy to take for granted is the orange "Donate" button at the top-right of the forum lead page.

It's our version of "Like Us."
