Re: Overdubbing from USB Source (AKAI MPD226) without overdubbing issues

even though it is plugged into a separate USB port from my Presonus interface? The separate USB port is the problem. In Audacity you only get one. So lay down your simple backing track, roll it back and play it into your headphones while you perform the second instrument or sing. Repeat. There is n...

Re: This doesn't look right... help!

I don't hear most of that, so that's between you and Trebor. All I got was a nice voice. Can you post another one according to this recipe? http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/TestClip/Record_A_Clip.html I do hear some of the odd background noises and they're messing up the measurement tools. We had ...

Re: Help editing and saving track after crash

I am not saving the files on a USB, rather an internal solid state drive. I got that. If you were on a USB external drive, you'd likely have more problems than this one. It would still run but obviously not for very long until I realized that it was unplugged. By the time you realized there was som...

Re: Microphone is not recording

Ooop. I see the microphone has a battery compartment in the cable. You did put the battery in, right? It takes an LR44. I generally use a Silver 357 for better performance.

You also have to turn it on.

Re: Microphone is not recording

the microphone is defekt for sure. What does the plug on the microphone cable look like? Is it a ring-tip-sleeve like this? Two black bands? http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/stereoJumper.jpg There are two ways to connect a microphone. The computer method has two black bands, but my Olympus re...

Re: Very strange behavior on recording

There was another poster with a similar problem. I don't know that we ever solved it. At first I thought this was a problem with my computer, but then I remembered that I use my computer with Skype frequently to advise clients and it always captures my voice perfectly. That may appear to be the good...

Use Save As only if you want a new Project with a different name.

Use Save if you just want to update the current Project.

Do Not cross them.

Re: Mixing 15 minute segments length change?

However. One of our posters was doing something very similar to what you're doing, but he ran into other bitrate problems. He, too downloaded internet music or other MP3s and commented on it and he, too supplied the station with good quality MP3s. They broadcast the shows and everything was OK until...

Re: Voice in Music

So I want to put my own voice in a song. Does the song have a voice already? You can try removing the existing voice with Effect > Vocal Remova l or Effect > Vocal Reduction and Isolation. Those are simple tools and can either fail, or succeed but damage the music. Best is try to find a karaoke ver...

Re: Help editing and saving track after crash

If Vegas is most comfortable with MP3 sound files, then Export the work in very high quality such as 256 or 320. That will minimize the damage. WAV stereo quality, to compare, is roughly 1400.
