Re: Rookie needs help changing recorded file floor level for Audible

First, the good news. If the presentation sounds OK, the noise is probably not as bad as -32dB. That noise level would cause you to run from the room holding your ears. Now, the not so good news. The probable reason ACX Check failed was it couldn't find any good quality background sound (Room Tone) ...

Re: Random popping noise????

powered USB hub acting up Powered hub? Did you have The Yeti Curse, high pitched whine sound behind your voice? A good quality powered hub can get rid of that whine, but the rule is you can't use the hub for anything else. If you've been at this for a while, is your internal drive filling up? Go (t...

Re: Unable to append record

Are you sure you're using Punch and Roll? Punch and Roll backs up from the current cursor position the number of seconds set in preferences. Then it plays forward for cuing and drops into record. It does a very rapid cross-fade like a video editor instead of switching right into record to avoid pops...

Re: Unable to append record

Somewhere in there R and Shift-R got reversed. You can put it back in Preferences > Recording.

There were enormous complaints that R didn't just append onto an existing track. "Why is it starting a new track. 'Nobody' wants that."

This is The Cat mastered. It sounds exactly like you, but this time it fits in the ACX specifications.

Re: Unwanted "squelching" on live recording

One more. Does the Audacity bouncing light sound meter drop to the left when the "squelch" kicks in? It's possible not. If it doesn't, that's a terrific clue.

Re: Unwanted "squelching" on live recording

Being an obsessive engineer, I would be "OO"ing into the microphone to see if I could sort which volume caused the trigger. OOO OOOOoooooo ooo ____________ ooo ooooooooOOOOOOOOO OOOO That would be much more valuable than reading a shaving commercial and leaving it up to us to figure out wh...

Re: Unwanted "squelching" on live recording

Do you use Skype and is it running back there? Do you like to record Internet music or sound? Audacity can apply one tool in real time. Edit > Preferences > Recording > [X] Sound Activated Recording. But that doesn't do what you got. That stops recording dead if it doesn't receive any sound. It does...

We can't do anything with that. There's not enough question.
