Re: used History Window to retrieve an accidental deletion and lost all progress
I think you should probably have used Edit > UNDO rather than the History system. UNDO works from the current edit backward. The deleted audio would have reappeared. History works from the beginning of the edit session. If you discarded the History steps, then all the edits from the beginning of the...

Re: Low Sound Levels
Are you reading for audiobooks? You may still be OK. There is a range of acceptable volumes depending on how well your microphone and interface performs. Record a 20 second test and post it on the forum. We can do a lot from there. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/TestClip/Record_A_Clip.html Don't...

Re: Low Sound Levels

Re: Unwanted "squelching" on live recording
Would you like the conspiracy version? There is "background processing" on your machine to make the Black Ops or Government Surveillance better able to pick up your voice and gain incriminating evidence. Make sure you keep a radio or other music going in the background if you discuss sensi...

Re: ACX-check won't show up
Quick note on ACX Check. You can make it not work right. ACX Check needs about 3/4 second of pure, clean background sound to work. That's background without you making any noise at all. No shuffling, breathing, gasping, coughing etc. I mention this because everybody fails noise and this is a common ...

There are a number of other ways to lose this. Your Mac may have tried to rename the file by adding .txt on the end to make it a proper text file. It is text, but it's not proper. Right-click or control-tap the file > Get Info. That should tell you the actual filename and give you the opportunity to...
