Re: Collapsed Tracks
Occasionally Audacity will just arbitrarilly collapse the tracks (I only use two; one for record and another for edit) I can't visualize what's happening. What's arbitrarily? Once a week? Once a month? Do you know how to capture a screen? Next time it happens, Shift-Command-4 and draw a box around ...

Re: Low Sound Levels
Yup I fixed that page in the Wiki yesterday Aaaand. We're done. Anything else you need? You should spend some quality time in the ACX published instructions. They have very specific directions past sound quality. Set MP3 here. Put Room Tone there. https://www.acx.com/help/acx-audio-submission-requi...

Re: Joining MP3 files seamlessly
Can 2 or more MP3 files be joined using Audacity on Windows 7? Yes, but you may not want to. Audacity imports the sound into itself, edits the music together and then creates a whole new MP3 when it's done. It's creating a new MP3 that increases the compression distortion and sound damage. You migh...

Re: Adding Reverb for Certain Character
It's unusual to have sound effects in audiobooks I can think of a real business reasons not to do that. It's extra work and a lot of extra time for little or no reward. That and it gives ACX something else to complain about. "We really liked your presentation, interpretation and voice quality,...

Re: Low Sound Levels
Quick note. There is a minor error in Mastering. You select the whole chapter or clip by clicking just right of the up arrow... http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/JusttRightOfTheUpArrow.jpg ...not up from the MUTE button. The Mute button direction is from an older version of Audacity. Ignore thi...

Hi Kos(?), "Koz" is Kozikowski with the compression all the way up. Right then. I pushed the clip through our mastering suite... https://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Audiobook_Mastering ...and it passes ACX Conformance. Screen Shot 2019-01-27 at 5.22.37.png Being obsessive, I applied very g...

Re: No longer getting multitrack on Windows 10
Can anyone shed some light on this issue? I think it used to be broken. I've never heard of recording multi-track with Audacity set to mono. I think what you have now is normal which is why this condition happened on more than one computer. I know this doesn't help you get your tracks back, but I k...

Re: Adding Reverb for Certain Character
I'm trying to think of an instance of using more than one voice. I think at least one of the Sarah Vowell audiobooks has multiple different voices to read direct quotes that appear in the book.
I should go back and look. It's pretty rare.

Re: Adding Reverb for Certain Character
Meeting ACX Requirements ACX Check tests technical conformance. Is it loud enough, etc. It doesn't test for theater and reading style. After the Robot at ACX checks for technical compliance, Human Quality Control takes over and checks for reading style, stuttering, odd breathing noises, etc. ACX, a...
