Re: Increasing tempo but same pitch
One of the options is typing the Start and End times and let the effect calculate the correction. You probably need to correct each piece by itself if you have many pieces and some work and some don't. Also, Effect > Change Tempo is one of the effects that has to take the song apart and put it back ...

Re: Recording of a voice : a fuzzy, distant sound
It sounds like you are not using your announcing microphone, but instead are using your laptop microphone. It's not unusual for this to give a distant, room-echo sound. You didn't say what the microphone was, but you can use the scratch test to find which microphone is active. You should know where ...

Re: recording maximizes at 0.5 waveform
If you have to get a show out the door, record pretending that you can't perform over 0.5 instead of 1.0. When you get finished, use Effect > Amplify to bump the volume up—to make up the difference. 6dB is not going to be noticeable past taking up a bit more production time. We need to know if you d...

Re: Low waveforms
If the goal is audiobooks, we publish an audiobook mastering suite of tools. Sounds grand, doesn't it? It's actually three effects which guarantee Peak and RMS and if you recorded in a quiet room, you should also pass Noise , the three ACX standards. https://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Audiobook_Mast...

@KenRyan
We have a pre-baked Equalization for pops and rumble. Low Rolloff for Speech. It cuts off at about 100Hz. It's a cousin to the field recording filters that Hollywood uses.

Re: Repeat Last Command (Ctrl-R) Not Working Due to EQ Effect Changing?
The work-around is open the curve you use all the time and change one point slightly or add one point somewhere it doesn't count. OK. That curve will now be default. If you then open it and delete the change, then the clean effect will get stuck.

Oh. The office machine is MacOS 10.9.5. The field machine is MacOS 10.13.6. Both do it.
Both 2.3.0.

Re: Repeat Last Command (Ctrl-R) Not Working Due to EQ Effect Changing?
Got it. The rule is not Last Curve Used. It's Last Curve Modified. If you modify a curve and use it, that curve will get stuck there until the sun cools off.
It has nothing to do with Import or Export. The magic curve stuck from yesterday was simply the last curve I changed.

I’ll be obsessive when I get home. I’m playing it back in my head and I think I may know one secret. Koz

Re: Repeat Last Command (Ctrl-R) Not Working Due to EQ Effect Changing?
Audacity remebers and re-used that last-used EQ curve You're alone there. My 2.3.0 presents a curve other than last used. MacOS 10.13.6 Open Audacity and Generate > Noise. Effect > Equalization. Some Curve presents. Move the curve to Low Rolloff > OK. Effect > Equalization and Low Rolloff is not th...
