Re: Audiobook - skipping to a particular time code
am recording my first audio book. Do you know you'll pass AudioBook technical standards? There's a common error where someone reads a whole book with unrecoverable errors in it. That's a rehearsal. There's also ways to submit tests to ACX before you read the whole thing. Post a sound test. It's 20 ...

Re: Audiobook - skipping to a particular time code
Many readers Do Something at the mistake so they can find the error later. Clapping is popular. That will produce a high blue wave that's a snap to find later. Also, some readers developed the technique of repairing work before they move on. This can be valuable for retaining the reading rhythm and ...

Re: Audio waves showing but intermittent sound
Really tiny gaps can be actual small flat-line segments just too tiny to see. As above, that's not unusual for a busy computer. Use zoom to magnify the segments. https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/zooming.html But you can also have blue waves from noise too high or low pitched to hear. Rumble (thun...

Re: OUTPUT RANGE FOR WEB E-LEARNING AUDIO
You can post a sample of your work on the forum. As a fuzzy rule, if you can pass ACX, you an do almost anything else. ACX technical standards are very close to broadcast They're cousins. Record and submit a 20 second test according to this formula. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/TestClip/Record...

Re: Understanding sound levels
I just bought a hearing aid online and am hearing speech much better. There were clues in your postings, but I was too gallant to say anything. When was, harrumph, caff, caff , the last time you had your hearing checked? All microphone systems make noise. The voice signal falling out of the bottom ...

Re: Understanding sound levels
As above, your mastered work without noise reduction just misses passing. If you created a new clip and announced slightly louder, the clip would pass without noise reduction. But all these tracks are dancing right on the edge and you can't do that with a book. It will drive you nuts. So In My Opini...

Re: De-Ess Plug-In For Audacity
Here's DeCrisper1 and DeCrisper2. They are plugins for Effect > Equalization. They dip musical tones about the place that Home Condenser Microphones try to boost them. You might find that it helps with mouth ticking and tongue smacking—all products of a harsh microphone. A common complaint of this k...

Re: De-Ess Plug-In For Audacity
Paul L wrote some plugins. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=79278 You may not like most De-Essers. They try to take the sound apart and only compress or reduce the "essy" bits. I think the Low Pass filters sound the best. They can gracefully push down the harsh, cris...

Re: Understanding sound levels
One goal of Mastering was to make your submission pass ACX and still sound like you. Some of the other techniques change your vocal tone or in some other way affect your voice. Excessive Noise Reduction can mess up your voice and ACX Quality Control is on the alert for that kind of damage. You will ...
