Re: ACX say my RMS is too low
Until they changed ACX requirements to LAME Encoder What does that mean? Who changed what? Their guidance on the change was to use another piece of software which was not Audacity. Such as what? We're not delicate. We've been known to recommend other software when appropriate. -22.9 That's dangerou...

Re: Trying to remove a tone (called Code 33 tone) from police dispatch audio
I use .mp3 format not .wav If you get the performance and products you like, then you win. But you should know what the limits are. MP3 is an end-product format. You can make an MP3 of an original performance (the radio) and unless you do something really evil, you will not be able to tell the diff...

Re: De-Ess Plug-In For Audacity
found that the Low Pass Filter option is still the best for me. At what settings? In fact, there wasn't even plugin directory. It's hidden. From a clean desktop, Go (top of screen) > Go To Folder. Re: Can silenced audio be restored in a project file?
I'm not "Mr. Editing," but I know a common error is to try and fix a problem similar to yours by editing directly in a song or other performance on a single timeline. Because of timing difficulties and other errors, you end up constantly mopping up after yourself. Much better to do it in t...

Re: FFMPeg Not Working
Files are in the right folder (I think) Those were the wrong English words. You don't install FFMpeg, you run the installer and it installs FFMpeg. Did you get a Disk Image file (.dmg). I think the worst thing to happen is the Mac will object to opening a "foreign file." How do you know i...

Re: Can silenced audio be restored in a project file?
I can't fix that? It's still there in the original audio file. I've only silenced it in the project. Right, so you can mount the original file as a second track, slide it into position using the Time Shift Tool (two sideways black arrows)... https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tools_toolbar.html#ti...

Re: Effects Chain Theory question
Take regular sips of water, and don't try to read too much at a time. Pauses can be easily edited out later, and are much easier to deal with than saliva sounds. There was a recent note from ACX to stop using condenser microphones. Dynamic microphones sound perfectly fine and aren't subject to boos...

Re: Effects Chain Theory question
EQ There's a caution here. The mastering tool order is not accidental. EQ (Low Rolloff) is there to prevent low pitch rumble and 'affordable microphone' trash out of the processing steps. There was a recent post from someone whose sub-audible rumble was three times the volume of the voice. All that...

Re: OUTPUT RANGE FOR WEB E-LEARNING AUDIO
One more. Noise Reduction will memorize the noise Profile as long as you don't close Audacity. The minute you do, it's gone and you have to drag-select a new profile.

Re: OUTPUT RANGE FOR WEB E-LEARNING AUDIO
I used a gentle, two-step, Effect > Noise Reduction . Drag-select a half-second to one second of pure noise. This is where that hold your breath for two seconds comes in. Effect > Noise Reduction > Profile. The effect will close itself. That lets Noise Reduction "sniff" the noise to know w...
