Re: new to Mac
Any tips for Mac users?? Mac what? I'm typing on a Mac Mini. How many tracks can I do on Audacity generally?? Manage? I think it's up to hundreds. The limit is the horsepower of the machine and the speed and size of the drive. Record? Audacity can record multi-track under some conditions. https://f...

This is what happens when I try to manage several close messages at the same time. Your whole post was about managing Effect > Equalization. The microphone thing was someone else.

Without looking... Your announcing spacing, in general, should be about a power fist if you're using a pop and blast filter. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/PowerFistSpacing-Screen-500t.jpg Or a Hawaiian Shaka and no filter. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/HawaiianShakaSpacing-NoScreen...

Re: Difficulty Creating a Macro
I forgot to ask! Did it work? It did. I did get an odd message... Screen Shot 2019-03-10 at 16.27.20.png "I can't use Low Rolloff , so instead I used Low Rolloff. " When programming goes wrong. I haven't been exhaustive yet, but as near as I can tell from first pass analysis, it did exact...

Re: Filtering a soft conversation from a louder one
Can I predict the past? You did an interview on your phone and can't hear the far side. That's actually worse than you think. The far voice is probably Echo Cancellation Trash and not actual voice. So even if you did rescue the voice, it won't be useful. Did I hit it? There are ways out of doing tha...

Re: Filtering a soft conversation from a louder one
I think I'm out of my depth. No. You're not. There are no good tools to split two different mixed conversations into two different sound files. The trouble is there's no "Key." Audacity (and most software) have no idea what a language is. All it knows is a bunch of musical tones jammed in...

Re: Difficulty Creating a Macro
Equalization:Use_Preset="User Preset:Low roll off for speech" etc..... That's the missing bit. The actual format and commands. There's no problem remembering the steps and tools. I wrote the original process. There is an oddball workaround for Equalization. Open Low Rolloff in Draw mode a...

Re: Please advise on best order of applying effects
I (or someone) will hit the rest of your question list as we go. We have to start somewhere. We are warned that the forum generally only addresses technical problems. ACX tests for that and also has Human Quality Control which is where you go to die if you stutter or just can't read out loud—or over...

Re: Please advise on best order of applying effects
This is part of a much larger Recommended Practices and AudioBook Mastering book I'm going to wrote .... one of these days. One of the reasons I haven't written anything significant yet is the Audience. There isn't any. Nobody wants the college level course. Everybody wants to read into a simple mi...

Re: Please advise on best order of applying effects
This is the single message part of a larger posting. Screen Shot 2019-03-09 at 19.32.45.png Which is here. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=365352 Ordinary Normalize is just a volume booster and should be applied with the Remove DC option selected. That boosts your work to (default) ma...
