Re: *Muffled audio, need opinions on whether it's useable
Was this a phone call? If it was you didn't record the far-side voice. You recorded the phone echo and noise cancellation errors. Unless the recording app says so specifically , you never get both sides. Just laying the phone on the table between several people speaking should come out way better th...

Re: Project crashed while normalizing, any way to recover?
Reconstruct my project using the blocks in the Project Data folder? You can sometimes partially recover a raw recording that way, mono better than stereo, but you can't recover an edit. The blocks will be scrambled. When you switched projects during production, did you use different Project names? ...

Re: Trouble picking up second mic audio
I know you have the analog microphone connection to the mixer OK, but do you also use the Microphone USB connection to the computer? Is it required to power the microphone electronics? There's a super good chance you're recording directly from one of the microphones and not the mixer. Audacity will ...

It probably also didn't pick up any clicking, ticking, popping, gaps, skipping, volume problems, compression defects, echo suppression artifacts or noise reduction distortion.it didn't pick up any fan noise.
Just a guess.

Re: Previous Track "Printing" onto new track.
This has been a standing unsolved problem. Somehow, Audacity is finding a "sneak" audio pathway and instead of just sending track one to your headphones as a backing track, it's recording track one in addition to the live performance. Make sure you have Playthrough turned off in Preference...

Re: Wavestats.ny plug-in
Wavestats doesn't seem to measure noise. Or did I miss something?
I ran both Wavestats and ACX Check on Steckler-Mastered and They gave me exactly the same Peak and RMS measurements.

Re: Unwanted crackle.
What's the connection in the middle. SPDIF? If you listen to the player with headphones, does it die in the same places as the recording? DAT is famous for ratty digital transfer. Their solution is transfer analog by the headphone connection and a good stereo analog interface. So that may be your de...

Describe the machine. What kind of hard drive? Classic Spinning Metal or Solid State Dive? How large is the drive and how full is it? While Audacity is still open, Go > Computer > Macintosh HD > File > Get Info. Screen Shot 2019-03-16 at 18.35.14.png This is my SSD. It's about half full. Are you eve...

Re: Not-great mic, but not abysmal. Is it salvageable?
This isn't touching up. That's a badly damaged sound clip. You are in disaster recovery. It's wool-blanket muffled, but it also has rumble and thumping sound over the voice and sizzling essing. How did you make that? In detail. Is it a surveillance recording? Was the recorder in your pocket? I can a...
