Re: Trouble picking up second mic audio
my two microphones are plugged into my soundboard, along with a USB plug-in so that they are powered. Right. That means you have three USB things plugged into your computer. If Audacity is pointed at one of the microphones, only that microphone will have sound. If Audacity is pointed to the mixer, ...

Re: Virus on audacity? No sound on some tracks
Also my last project, mixed down the tracks automatically when I exported the project to audio. That's not normal. Actually, it is. Unless you Export Selected, Audacity will mix down all available tracks to one (stereo) track on Export. Audacity tells you explicitly it's going to do that. Which ver...

Re: Virus on audacity? No sound on some tracks
Did you bump the volume control in the left-hand track panel? The blue waves do not follow that volume control, but speaker output and Export do.No mute of solo button is on

Re: Noise Reduction
This was never a problem with the previous version of Audacity. Maybe if you got a new computer it's not Audacity. Audacity does not apply effects, filters, corrections or changes while recording—other than under certain conditions, volume. If you did a Windows or computer change, there could be so...

Re: Noise Reduction
I've never had this problem before Have you recorded multiple books? There was a recent posting from someone else who had his third book submission refused on technical grounds. The conspiracy theory version of this is someone at ACX has been accepting audiobook submissions with fuzzy technical sta...

Re: Telephone recording
Post back if it works. Headset connections, microphone connections and headphone connections are all different. Sometimes they cross and sometimes they don't.It does look different in 10, but not significantly

Re: Edit a lecture/seminar
If it's a simple volume problem, select the whole recording with Select > All (top bar), Then Effect > Amplify > OK. That will make the recording as loud as possible without distortion. If you need a way to rescue the voice from noise or other sound, that's a lot harder. There is a fuzzy rule that i...

Re: Telephone recording
I think we just gently stepped into somebody else's world. I don't know exactly where sound preferences are in Win10 because I'm not a Windows elf. This is what it looks like in Win7. Right-click the speaker icon. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/Win7-RightClickSpeaker.jpg And pick recording devic...

Re: Noise Reduction
Are you following recommendations or or a recipe for production? You said some messy things there. This is from the ACX web page of recommendations. Screen Shot 2019-03-19 at 13.18.54.png Note it does not say "dead silence before and after". They specifically want Room Tone or background n...

Re: recording meeting in my office with audacity
This is a recording I made in a crowded restaurant with my iPod Voice Recorder. It's a segment of "how to cook oatmeal." If you have a quiet conference room, this will sound a lot better. The minute you leave self-contained systems (the laptop), the process is a lot harder and and more com...
