Re: Noise floor is my biggest problem for ACX, I'm scared I have to re-record
Just so we're all talking about the same number values. "Zero" in sound-speak is maximum volume. If any part of your voice tries to get louder than that, it can become permanently damaged and sound terrible. The rest of the numbers go negative from there. -3dB is quieter than that. -20dB i...

Re: Understanding sound levels
Does that mean they all have to have exactly the same levels: peak, RMS and noise floor? No, but they're very clear they do not want distractions . If your background noise changes between two chapters, that will take the listener out of the story. If your voice timber changes chapter by chapter be...

Its the finished audio file thats been compressed and normalized and etc. We can't take effects and corrections out of a performance. Whose recipe or formula were you using? We have a mastering suite of tools, but it certainly isn't the only one. Are you up to recording a test clip? http://www.kozc...

Re: Understanding sound levels
I'm curious to see if I can figure out how to record in a way that will require no correction. Post back not if you get there once, but if you can do it to three or four chapters in a row. That's what most people can't do. There was a recent poster trying to do that and his book mostly passed but h...

Re: Only can hear from right side of headphones
The UM2 is a a native mono device and they provide a mono-mix to your headphones. Your adapter is native stereo and I'm not shocked they shove one microphone to left or right. If you make the sound into mono later, then yes, it will appear on both sides. You should be able to shift Left and Right by...

Re: my Audacity keeps quting unexpectedly!
It complains repeatedly about "IO Error". How many external things do you have connected? External soundcards? USB microphones?
Disconnect everything, restart and see if the problem doesn't vanish.
Are you trying to edit via Network Connected Drives or Cloud Drives?
