Re: Cannot open .aup files/file cannot be found
What was a typical AUP filename? Did you include dates? If you did you might want to search what would happen if you made a date into a computer file structure. Today is 3/25/19. Sometimes if a computer sees that, it will look like a file 19 inside a folder 25 inside a larger folder 3. It's a good i...

Re: Extract a human voice from a live music event.
The quick answer is no. Audacity can't split a mixed show into individual voices, instruments or sounds.

Re: Only can hear from right side of headphones
There it is. I knew they made these. This is the 1/8" version. Stereo headphones to a mono source. Only works with the Left connection.

Re: Understanding sound levels
There are only two Room Tone samples in that clip. One at the start and one at 12 seconds. The rest of the clip has speaking or breath sounds and no Room Tone.
Those two segments are within a dB of each other. Nobody can hear that difference. What do you think?
They both pass ACX testing.

Re: Understanding sound levels
We're doing this across multiple time zones with someone we've never met before. We only know what you tell us.Oh, you mean the ones I gave the results on.
I need to come back home to the grown-up computer. Were you able to hear the splice on the sample I just submitted?

Re: Import file size too big? Audacity closes before imported
The down side of that is you can't do anything to the sound while it's inside the software. All you can do is cut and paste. There are no production tools. If that's your goal, then MP3DirectCut is for you.MP3DirectCut doesn't need to do any complex processing

Re: Audible Books and Chromecast
I can convert to MP3 not an issue It might be an issue. Audible/ACX requires authors submit work as MP3. It's almost 100% certain your existing works are already in MP3 as a second conversion. ACX tells us they're going to do that. You will be making the third conversion. MP3 is not a production me...

Re: Understanding sound levels
I used the mastering tools All of them in the right order? Audiobook Mastering guarantees an RMS value of -20dB. How did your two clips end up -22.5dB and -19.9dB? I mastered a trash sound track I had laying around. Yes, I know it doesn't pass noise. It was a noisy recording. But note the RMS value...

Re: Import file size too big? Audacity closes before imported
Audacity doesn't make a very good surveillance recorder. You're not just importing a sound file. Audacity decodes, decompresses and then opens up the show in its own higher quality than normal sound format. It uses 32-floating format, not straight 16-bit. So a 24-hour sound file would be monstrous a...

Re: Understanding sound levels
Running the mastering tools Does that mean you used Audiobook Mastering , or you used ACX Check to see how you did? Is the noise floor difference going to be perceptible or distracting? Listen to it. It's rain-in-the-trees shshshshshshsh sound, right? Listen to the two tracks one after the other an...
