Re: Need help with audiobook noise levels
Do you NOT recommend the declicker? I don't do anything with DeClicker. I've never used it. I do know that mouth noises are boosted by some microphones because it "sounds more professional." Not in my book, but I'm not making microphones. I wondered if one good pass through DeEsser can so...

Re: I have 2 different vocal versions of same song, how can i remove the vocal from them?
If they're stereo shows (two blue waves), you can try Effect > Vocal Removal or Effect > Vocal Reduction and Isolation . Neither one is likely to do a good job and having two different versions of the song doesn't help. Are they both MP3s? Even worse. MP3 compression means the vocal removal tools wo...

Re: ACX Check plugin - region
nor what it's looking for. ACX publishes technical specifications for audiobook sound submission. There's only three: overload protection (Peak), loudness (RMS) and background noise volume. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=297423#p297423 That would seem simple but everybody fails nois...

Re: ACX Check plugin - region
If you run ACX Check after AudioBook Mastering , then the first five minutes is probably OK. Mastering makes everything match. If you're trying to read directly into audio book specifications or using another protocol, then you have no choice. Any voice variation anywhere in the performance may viol...

Re: Need help with audiobook noise levels
Surprise. You picked another display variation. You selected Waveform (dB) with the drop-down menu to the left of the blue waves. Audacity defaults to Waveform , which is percent rather than dB. Like this: http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/AudacityRecording-650w.jpg 0 percent in the middle (dea...

Re: Need help with audiobook noise levels
the macro will apply whatever the last equalization curve used was Or not. Remember the Equalization difficulty where it will remember the last curve changed , not used. Some Audacity versions have this problem. Also, there is some doubt whether calling a specific curve in a Macro will work either,...

Re: Need help with audiobook noise levels
Note there is a defect where the middle of the waves doesn't settle at 0, but hovers above or below. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/DCOffset.jpg That is a hardware defect called DC Offset and needs to be addressed before any serous production. That wave on the far right is normal. The pop or sna...

I run the risk of talking someone through tools that no longer exist. Soon. Soon. Yes! I thought it was fabulous! I ran ACX Mastering (you...

Re: Need help with audiobook noise levels
I did notice a few days ago that if I change the EQ at all on anything else, then it resets my Macro as well Which Audacity are you using? Audacity > About. In addition to trying to follow individual variations on announcing style and millions of different microphones, different Audacity versions s...
