Apparently we've been here before, only then I accused you of recording in 1962.
I can still listen to that voice and legacy Dr Who would be perfect.
We just have to get rid of that cement mixer back there.

Re: I think I've messed it up again - please help!
Hopefully it will be enough to work with It's perfect thanks. The overall volume is just a snivvy too loud, but that can be a simple recording adjustment. The background noise is very serious. Can you tell if your computer is on just by listening? Can you tell when your cooling or heating goes on a...

Re: Need help with audiobook noise levels
Terrific. The interface does perfectly expected things. The borderline between green-ish and yellow corresponds to our recommendation for normal recording volume—tips of peaks roughly around 50%. Heavy yellow is OK, but you are spittin' distance of possible sound distortion. Any theatrical emphasis ...

Attachments may fail for being digitally too large or in a format the forum may not accept. It can also fail if you forgot to send it. Of course, that never happens to me.

Re: Adio book rejected - need help!
We have RMS Normalize , but it's not included with Audacity. You have to download and install it. After you use that, Effect > Limiter will suppress peaks that exceed -3dB. Both of those tools are included in the ACX Audiobook Mastering process. https://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Audiobook_Mastering...

Re: Latency test - Audio recording is distorted
At the moment I am testing the recording environment with the loopback function in audacity. Hope this clarifies the setup that I am using. Not at all. I'm looking for a sentence without slippery words in it. "I want to sing a song with internet accompaniment" or "I want to overdub w...

Re: Adio book rejected - need help!
How did you record the work? Describe the microphone. Part numbers? Were you following someone's recommendations for performing? Have you ever installed custom tools or software into Audacity? We do publish audiobook mastering and analysis tools, but they need to be installed. The don't come with re...

Re: Need help with audiobook noise levels
a Photoshop® graphic... Yes, you can use Waveform (dB) to watch the work, but that may not be as useful as you think. This is a made-up performance with about the right volumes in Waveform . Screen Shot 2019-03-28 at 3.13.29.png It shows the tips of the waves at about 50% (which is -6dB if you're c...

Re: Appending an mp3 file to the end of an Audacity project
Duplicate the show so it appears twice, one above the other, then import the new MP3. You can edit, offset and process each of the three tracks so there is a graceful transition between the three. Put fades at the front and back of each one and even cross-fade like a club mix. Screen Shot 2019-03-28...

Re: Appending an mp3 file to the end of an Audacity project
You can stop moving the new track anywhere you want. You can generate silence in the top track to form a hole where the new track will play. Screen Shot 2019-03-28 at 2.56.42.png If you don't generate the hole, both tracks will play at the same time. I think there may be an easier way to do that.......
