Instead of the sliders, use Effect > Amplify and choose the amount of volume reduction you want in the top box. For reference 50% is -6dB.

Sometimes you can get software to download the work as a file transfer rather than a stream. Lots of stream ambiguities and background "tricks" go away when you do that. There's at least one package that allows you to do that with YouTube.

You can put the Noise Reduction in, but what did you use as reduction settings? The most graceful reduction is Noise Reduction of the Beast at 6, 6, 6.
