Re: Mic cutting in and out
K668? There's a brute force method. Listen to the computer while you make a recording and wiggle all the connections one at a time announcing as you go. "This is the USB connection." "This is the connection to the bottom of the microphone." Is there hum or a change in quality if ...

Re: How to fix hum
The hum is terrible. There is no powerline hum. That sounds like ventilation fan to me. By the time you get to "terrible," that kills most if not all of the post production fixes. Stiff patch application damages the show. Is that tone audible at the mixing desk? Does the mixing desk have ...

Re: MP3 to MIDI
Why do you need that? What's the job?I was wondering if there was a way to take a piano recorded to mp3 and convert it to MIDI.

Re: Help! ACX Plug-In mistake!
You're probably just dying to know this. This is a posting of what you need to do manually with regular tools if you don't have ACX Check. http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/ACXTesting/ACXTesting.html That's what that one tool replaces. It's totally possible to mess up your performance by accident a...

Re: Help! ACX Plug-In mistake!
When you get it, you don't need all the information in ACX Check. Just the first three readings and the sentence 2/3 down. http://kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/ACX-Check_Success2.jpg These are the values. https://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?p=297423#p297423 It is recommended you do production...

Re: Help! ACX Plug-In mistake!
OK. Got it. That wasn't shot with a computer microphone. That was shot with an old Zoom H4 sound recorder. HudsonValleyH4-2.jpg A separate sound recorder is recommended if you make it to the second or third week of trying to force your computer microphone to work right. Recording pro quality sound o...

Re: Help! ACX Plug-In mistake!
I don't want to be too much of a Debby Downer here. It is totally possible to read for Audiobooks using Audacity and we have a really good track record for getting people published. This is a thing I shot using my super quiet third bedroom. I don't remember the microphone, but it wasn't anything spe...

Re: Help! ACX Plug-In mistake!
apparently meets the standards of ACX. It's our product written by flynwill using a collection of already published tools. So yes, in general , if you pass ACX Check , you meet the technical requirements. Only. You still have to pass Human Quality Control and be able to read out loud in a pleasant ...

Re: on the recording playback, there is some garbled effect.
Windows machines come with automatic echo suppression and noise processing. This can sometimes sound like talking into a wine glass or underwater. You can turn it off (if you can find it) through Windows control panels. https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/faq_recording_troubleshooting.html#enhanceme...
