Re: ACX Check Plug In
There's a trick to this and I don't remember what it is.. Searching. I am desperate! I hope not. It's not unusual for new readers to go through weeks of preparation and troubleshooting to get to a posting. The microphone makers love you to think you can put their microphone on the kitchen table, bre...

Re: Trouble recording with USB interface
he used it to talk to me over skype. It would be good to know that earlier. So the Mac thinks everything is OK. Set the unit up normally and start or restart Audacity. Audacity checks for connections when it starts. Audacity (desktop toolbar) > Preferences > Devices > Recording > Device. Does the O...

Re: Trouble recording with USB interface
Found it. There's a tiny light by each volume control called SIG/OL. It turns green when the sound is normal and red when there is something wrong. Do you get any lights?

Re: Trouble recording with USB interface
Do you have access to the unit and computer? Close Audacity. Plug in the Onyx and look for the USB light on the front. I can't tell if the Onyx has lights or some way to indicate volume. Does it? One of the interfaces by someone else has knobs that light up. Connect the microphone and see if you can...

Re: Recording second track does not work using USB for recorder and playback
The signal is coming from the usb port on the computer. That's the puzzled look. According to two different places in the instructions, sound enters the Tascam via the optical digital connections. No mention of the USB. The controls on top don't say "USB Return" or "Computer USB"...

Re: processing audio that includes long silences
I was going to ask you what would happen if you applied the one correction to all the individual tracks, but you can't do that because you need to select all the tracks and selection fails if you use Time Shift Tool. At least it does on mine. Try it. Hold the shift key and try to click more than one...

Re: processing audio that includes long silences
Here is the Macro (Batch) file written by Deborah Nolan, but it's the earlier version without the signature. MasteringMacro.txt Download it and slide into the Macros folder in your Audacity System Files. I have zero idea where that is on your machine. It's the same folder that has the Plugins folder...

Re: Recording second track does not work using USB for recorder and playback
The mixer might sorta do what you want. I see two references to transfering sound from the computer by optical, not USB.
So that's why the USB Send fails.

The three examples of successful overdubbing were done with USB sound devices. One UCA-202 http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/peaveyUCA202Lenovo.jpg One G-Track microphone, http://www.kozco.com/tech/audacity/pix/samsonGTrackConnections.jpg ...and one X2U microphone interface. http://www.kozco.co...
